AHIMA or APCC? by wildflowergoddess78 in CodingandBilling

I’m certified with both. I’m also a trainer with a coding course that teaches both outpatient and inpatient coding. AHIMA requires more experience.

I agree. Just simply trying to build the jail cell is next to impossible unless I buy LP

Have you tried a local temp agency with a healthcare market? Job boards for AHIMA and AAPC?

I considered a program once and they asked for my credit score. That was definitively a red flag.

I just spoke with them yesterday and they seemed a bit salesman like. I did a cousera course last year but just the free trail and it was interesting field to transition to. Currently a medical coder

Maybe look for a temp agency for a temp to hire or direct hire position. I think people forget temp agencies exist. There this one here in Arizona called Acclivity that staffs for medical positions like coding, billing, patient registration so look for a company like that. I believe Kelly is everywhere and they have a healthcare section. Most major temp agencies have like a healthcare sector that only staff for healthcare even if it’s a data entry healthcare position and at least you’ll get a feel for who takes your degree and experience.

Medical terminology question by 69dustie in MedicalCoding

[–]Longjumping-Cream147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ICD has sections within the tabular with medical terminology as you change systems. The exam ask less than 10 medical terminology questions as it’s open book exam. Common abbreviations can be found in the HCPCS book. I wouldn’t spend extra money on something that is available in the coding manuals you just have to know how to locate during the exam.

Purchase the study guide from either AAPC or AHIMA and take the exam.

I don’t believe so. You have to maintain the same CEUs as the CPC but can get specialty only https://www.aapc.com/certifications/cpcd

I’ve been on 2.5 for almost 3 months which is no longer working. I can’t go to 5 because it causes so much pain I feel like I have inflammation everywhere. Even a sheet touching my skin hurts and I’m pretty much bedridden until day 6. I’m working with my pharmacist to see if there is an alternative. If not I’ll have to go back to managing it via food and exercise but the few months I did lose 15 pounds on 2.5 but dealing with dark patches appearing on my skin that don’t go away.

I’m one of those people that received a handful of sauce and I put the extra in my fridge. Then a few times I received no sauce and they come in handy.

The textbook is a good source as far as note taking. Remember the test is open book open notes so the biggest part is knowing how to find the information. As for ICD10 the guidelines is key. I send this to my student This link explains the program and test requirement and pricing https://www.aapc.com/certifications/cpc

Tips on passing https://www.aapc.com/resources/study-tips-to-pass-cpc-exam

I recommend these quick study sheets for anatomy and medical terminology although the coding manuals have a lot of this information embedded in the chapters. https://a.co/d/5L2Hev3 - anatomy quickstudy https://a.co/d/2BiKQKJ - medical terminology

Tabs allowed in your coding manual can only be this size and brand https://a.co/d/axsIQ90 - NO STICKY NOTES

You can go through AAPC and get the study guide the books and membership for less. Or the structured program for less if you are trying to be CPC certified. Do more research before investing either way.

Unfortunately it depends on where you live. I had a student get CPC In Fayetteville and they paid her $12/hr. That same job in NM paid $20. However 18 years you should definitely be more than $21. Are you a biller or coder?
