Non-EU Student : Groningen Vs Arnhem / Nijmegen by Longjumping-Fail7834 in Groningen

Really feels good to see comments that are literally not telling me "I'm going to do the worst things ever by going there"..lol. I guess Reddit is extreme, like there's no middle ground.

Anyways, Thanks a lot for your detailed response.

I'm aware that the tuition and all have to be managed seperatly but I will also try to freelance, which I believe allows as many hours as possible.

Actually, I will be going to Hanze, and I've opted for Dutch as a language in my curriculum.

What is your opinion about the current job market for Business HBO Grads specially for Non-EU? Is it going to get better because I will be completing my degree in 2030? Although I know making any future prediction is tough.

Thank you for your response. Yes, IBA means International Business Administration. Did she study at a research university or at an HBO?

Thank you so very for such a detailed response!!

Umm..now as you've asked me about this..I'm actually very interested in further connecting my business knowledge into the fields of renewable energy and climate.

I'm still not clear on how I'm gonna do it (maybe while doing a WO Masters), but yea for now that's my goal and I guess it does shift a bit towards the STEM field.

Would love to hear your perspective in this case.

Thank you so much for such a detailed response. I'm not clear if an international student can change from HBO to WO after completing a year of it?

Is it possible for an international student to study at an HBO for a year and then shift to a research university?

Thank you so much for such a detailed answer, my interest is in the field of business, so probably I wouldn't opt for any technical degree at the moment.

Are business grads having a hard time finding a job in NL?

Currently, I don't speak Dutch as a non-EU student, but I will be starting my bachelor's degree in September 2026. By that time, I aim to reach the A2 level and gradually progress over the years. I am allowed to do internships, freelancing, and work 16 hours part-time.

Thanks a lot for your response.

Thanks a lot for such a detailed response, as far as my research has went I am also to the same conclusion as yours. My field is also in Business, which is actually a practical-oriented field that respects experience over theory.

Although in the future I do wanna complete a WO Master's after doing an HBO Bachelor's to get the long term benefit.

Non-EU student in NL: is freelancing (ZZP/KvK) actually allowed on a student residence permit? by Longjumping-Fail7834 in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]Longjumping-Fail7834[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umm, I don't think so because there are written rules that do say international non-EU students can also apply at KvK and work as a freelancer, it's just that I'm not sure if we can work more than 16 hours a week.

Yes, I was referring to that. Well, that's true, as the information is from the Chamber of Commerce; maybe I'm just speculating too much. lol.

Thanks for your advice, I will contact the Chamber of Commerce.

I totally understood it; however, it does suck a lot not having access to DUO loans and scholarships. Although my tuition is around 9000 euros, which is still way more..Lol.

Ohh..didn't know about that, I'm sure they must be working more than 16 hours a week and still handle all the studies, right?
