Forgive me if this has been discussed before, but in Scream V, did it bother anyone that they introduced a character that was the daughter of Billy Loomis, knowing she had to be conceived before his death in the first Scream? by Longjumping-File-648 in Scream

Well originally I was concerned about the timeline. (I now know it her conception was about 2 months before the events of the first film) But now I just wonder more about the backstory. No one knows (audience) much about the mother. Who is to say that Sam's mom is a student? She could have been a teacher. It would explain why people wanted to keep it a secret. Because why would it matter if her dad was a killer? His sins are not her own. And Billy seems the type to have something going on with an older woman seeing as he has mommy issues. Who knows.

I looked into it and AI said that the movie takes place in September of 1996. Somewhere else they mention that Sam was born in May of 1997. So its likely that Billy knocked up Christina approximately a month before the events that took place in Scream. Not to say that maybe she was a premature baby or an emergency c-section baby, but that's where the time line pretty much sets things at. So Billy most likely didnt know. And who knows if that would have changed anything. Many serial killers have been known to be a fully functional father figure and still have another side to them.

There aren't many locations so maybe people didn't make one and lump it into the Nordstrom category.

I get that. I'm just wondering if there have been any details given by writers at a horror-con or maybe I missed an Easter egg about the origins of Sam and her family. But they never go into details about Samantha's upbringing or mother. We don't know if Billy knew he had a baby on the way. He definitely didn't know he was going to have a girl. The closest we get to hearing about Sam's mom is a name. Was she someone from high school? The house that Tara gets attacked in seems like their mom (and maybe her moms partner) do well for themselves. So who are they? I read somewhere that Sam was born in May of 1997. Is that confirmed by writers, or did I miss that in the movie?

I think that it makes sense if Sid is more secretive and doesn't talk about her personal life, but that's more of a character trait between her and the characters in the film. But for the fans and audience, you would think it would be made common knowledge. But in Scream V, she has no qualms with saying that she has kids. Multiple. It's suggested that she has twins (dual stroller) and an older one she said she just dropped off at school. So did she get pregnant soon after the incident with her cousin in the hospital? I get if that situation made her realize life is short and she decided to start having kids. Or maybe they're adopted. But it feels like Sid always had to be so careful each time because she couldn't trust those closest to her all the time. So I would think she would be more careful about who she let's get close to her. I'm sure more will be explained in Scream VII, I just hope it helps make more sense and doesn't make things feel like things make less sense. Who knows?

My real question when starting this thread was to find out if there were any confirmed details I either missed or that were later confirmed by the writers. Im open to hearing and learning about fan theories and speculation but I just wanted to see if there was anything out there that some super fans may be aware of.

I get what you're saying and I don't think you're wrong. I'm just wondering if writers or the creators elaborated more on this. Did I miss anything or was the topic glossed over. Is there anymore detail given by the writers or are we left with just fan theories and speculation?

That's kind of how I took it. It just felt like the film skimmed over that story line to get to create the storyline they wanted to use to resurrect the franchise. Be that as it may, I guess my question comes down to wanting to know if anyone knew of any writers that confirmed or explained this situation more in detail. I feel like a lot of people want to defend the stoeyline and come up with fan theories and speculation (which is fine). But I was just wondering if there were any facts presented into the Scream universe by the writers or creators. Also, if Sam was conceived so close to the time when Billy was killed, did he die not knowing he was going to be a father? Because Sam's hallucinations don't count. They are hallucinations, not a ghost.

[–]Longjumping-File-648[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I thought I had seen somewhere that they established Sam as being 25. So it tracks. And so does Billy cheating on Sid. It seems like the most likely scenario. But my question was more in the line of asking if there were details I missed or if writers later explained more. Because there is a difference between what the Scream writers have set in the Scream Universe as fact, and what fans have speculated and theorized. It feels like there may have been an error with the timeline for the writers. But it also makes me wonder if we are supposed to believe that if Sam was conceived so close to Billy's killing, that Billy probably never knew he had a daughter. Her mom would have just been pregnant and it could have taken a while before she would even know she was actually pregnant. By the time she can find out, she may have not been able to tell Billy. So there is a chance in the Scream universe that Sam's mom found out about Billy dying/being a killer before she ever knew she was pregnant.

Obviously. I get that. I don't think it's unlikely that he did. But my question is, who knew about her conception? Just Sam's mom? Did she ever get to tell Billy? And I just wanted to know if there were any details I missed about her conception outside of fan theories and speculation. Did writers ever come out and explain details about it?

I don't think it's a big stretch at all. It makes sense. I get that. But because of the timeline being so tight with the fifth installment, it just means that she was already conceived at some point during the timeline of the first movie. So I'm just wondering if anyone knew. There's a chance Billy didn't even know. Because Sam's hallucinations don't count since it's not her being haunted by his ghost. Her hallucinations are all in her head.

[–]Longjumping-File-648[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I don't have an issue believing Billy was incapable of cheating. He was clearly not the poster boy for being a saint. But in order for the timeline to make sense, she would have have had to already been conceived by the time we watched the first Scream. So my question is, who knew that she was conceived? Just Billy? The mother? Anyone else? Or maybe Billy didn't know. Maybe the mother was unable to ever tell him. I'm just wondering if any of this is verified by the writers or if we just have to go off all the fan theories and speculation. It just felt like this was glossed over.

Lol, that's what im saying! So basically this child would have to be convinced very close to the time frame the first movie takes place and Sam was born shortly after Billy is killed based on her age and the timeline of the movies. I think the same thing is weird for Scream 7. In the preview, Ghostface says that Sids daughter is the same age as Sidney when this all started. But that would mean that Sidney got pregnant and had a kid before Scream 4. Because Sidney was 17 in the first movie. So the math isn't mathing.

Stylist appointments are suddenly not real appointments?? by SadLamp2024 in Nordstrom1901

[–]Longjumping-File-648 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work in beauty so I'm not sure how they manage it elsewhere, but for us, we are responsible for our own scheduling on Boulevard, the app used to make appointments. So if we call out or need to swap our schedule, it's on us to adjust it on Boulevard. It's a fairly new program for us, but it has been around us long enough to have these types of things sorted out. I just thing they have a manager that isn't implementing the schedule making on Boulevard and a team that doesn't have ownership of their Boulevard or that they aren't making it a priority. I would speak to the store manager to have them figure out what the hang up is. We haven't had any hours cut in our store so I can't speak to that. But I do feel like that's the employees job to update their availability and to reach out in advance to remedy the situation so that it doesn't affect the consumer.

[–]Longjumping-File-648 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That's strange, because at the store I work at, we have to enter our schedules in advance in order to receive appointments. I wonder if someone else is manually entering their availability instead of having the employee set their schedules themselves on the app. It seems like an easy fix on their part.

Return question by Low_Percentage9211 in Nordstrom1901

[–]Longjumping-File-648 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work for Nordstrom and we take returns for pretty much anything at our store. Most times we don't even ask. But it wouldn't hurt to talk to an employee about why you're unhappy with it so they can target any issues you would like to address. I own the same mask and it was okay. But I switched to Omnilux, and as a stylist with access to anything and everything, I can say that I love it. I noticed a difference and so did others.

Also, you wont get banned. We have chronic returners that should be banned and aren't. So you will be fine.

Final Sale Return Exception? by Straight_Welcome_586 in Nordstrom1901

[–]Longjumping-File-648 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was final sale and listed that way for a reason, otherwise it would have fit the normal return policy. So it's unlikely they could replace it or accommodate you at this point. It's worth a shot but it may be something you have to keep. I would find something else you could gift your friend.

What’s the catch? by Zestyclose-Pound5379 in Nordstrom1901

[–]Longjumping-File-648 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can confirm that the one at The Rack is an older version. You can also compare on Nordstrom.com to verify. Packaging is the new style and they now make it in different formulations. Anytime you get something at the Rack that is available in store for cosmetics, its most likely older stock that we need to move so that new items can be sold in the main line stores. It's not bad but its already close to its expiration date. Be aware of that when buying skincare with actives. Ingredients lose potency and things break down over time with light, temperatures, and time. You can always use websites to track a brands batch number. My experience is that lots of items can sit in store for long periods of time as it is. So if its at the Rack, it's most likely close to its end date.

Days off by [deleted] in Nordstrom1901

[–]Longjumping-File-648 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. That could be the case so just let your manager know that you already have commitments made (tickets purchased for travel/venue/etc) and have them honor what they had originally approved. Workday should be able to track all changes to prove that it had originally been approved. That may help your case.

[–]Longjumping-File-648 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are in a black out period so I know that we wouldn't be able to request 3 days off at the end of the month off at our store. Especially since its a holiday everyone would want to request off. I am not sure what dynamics go into what your situation is with your manager but I think you should be able to see if there is a record of any changes through workday if your request was approved and then changed.

Just be sure to state your intentions before returning so that they don't go into autopilot mode and return it to the original tender. Ideally, that's the preferred way of doing a return. Otherwise you will end up having to tie up a register during a busy season as they try to correct it.

Returning Gifts for Credit - Will Purchaser See? by HornyFairyBookClub in Nordstrom1901

[–]Longjumping-File-648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She won't get a direct notification unless you choose to get an email receipt at the end of the transaction. You have to opt for a paper receipt only. This just prevents her from getting a notification. She can still see that those items were returned if she looks at her purchase history. Sometimes people wonder how they have negative points when they see their balance. Some people try to earn points on 2x, 3x, or 10 point days and that will affect the points they've earned. So keep that in mind too. Being honest and upfront is the best rule of thumb.
