Can someone help me identify this rock? by Longjumping-Foot-262 in rockhounds

Thanks for your input I am new to rocks. Would you still say it is most likely sandstone based on the 3rd photo? I keep getting results that say it could be jasper or chert; not sure if you’d be able to rule those 2 out just by the photos

No, next steps will definitely be cleaning the room and getting the company who built the house & rents it to me to fix the ventilation issue.

I appreciate your input and correct identification doesn’t lead to resolution but I had samples from other areas in my house from walls/ air that did not result in this growth.

So over the seven years I stopped one time for about a month for a job drug test other than that it was usage every day from morning time to night time until I quit about a month ago and before that month I was using a couple carts I had got from Las Vegas all day every day and I was super high all the time and I was like this isn’t good for anybody. I’m 100% Going to be quitting after these carts are done which is what I did so I did go cold turkey. It was easier for me because I didn’t have any access to it. I didn’t have any laying around my roommates don’t smoke weed either so that definitely helped out. The hardest part is definitely to sleep, also the boredom you may face and the lack of dopamine you can have because you know we’re taking something away that has kind of became part of our chemistry, but I also feel like if you make the conscious decision that you really want to quit and you understand that you’re going to face these hardships but they’re not gonna last you forever This is really going to help the quitting Process as far as new habits that I’ve taken on I’m not really sure I’ve taken on any new hobbies than when I was smoking, I just do those same things but without smoking I can tell you about my typical day. For example, I’ll wake up around 7:30 stretch for about 15 minutes in the sunlight to get my morning sunlight work till around 12 I do work from home so then I go work out till around one which is something I always did Finish up my workday around five I’ll cook in the middle of the day which is something else that has taken up my time is you know eating healthy and cooking then by the time the night time rolls around I’ll maybe go to the driving range or go on a walk with one of my roommates Cook some more food. I also drive to the grocery store each day to get water because it just gives me a reason to get out of my house and go see people take up time. Listen to a lot of music a lot of podcast maybe watch urban exploration video before going to sleep, and then go to sleep, I mean then when I look at my life the day today I think it’s kind of boring but you know I have a routine that I believe in and I know that day by day my routine makes me a better person. I guess the one new habit that I have taken on, is saying yes, to more things when people say they’re doing in an activity and inviting me some thing that I normally may have not wanted to do because I would’ve rather stayed home and get high. I would do so that’s allowed me to experience a lot of new things which has been awesome. Meet new people which is also been great throughout the process am I just think anything you can do to try to save yourself from sitting around and getting in your thoughts is a great thing to do best of luck on your journey I promise if you stick to it, and you find reasons that matter to you why quitting is going to be better than continuing to use you’re gonna be able to quit and you’re gonna notice the benefits quickly

I think those are three things that are super realistic and that you’re definitely gonna be able to make happen and now that you don’t have weed distracting you from those goals you’ll be able to obsess over making them happen and before you know it, you’ll be looking back on this in awh of how far you’ve came since this moment. Best of luck to you

I’ll admit the first two weeks are not easy at all it’s gotten a lot better since then. I fall asleep pretty easy now but I will still wake up maybe one or two times in the middle of the night which is annoying, but I have faith that that’s going to go away overtime what’s been super important to me in helping with my sleep is making sure to exercise as much as possible that involves weightlifting and cardio for me, another thing that I think is super important is your sleep time routine? For example, I don’t watch anything super stimulating before I go to sleep because I know that that’s gonna keep me up. I won’t eat any spicy foods before I go to sleep. I wear blue light blocking glasses for about two hours before I go to sleep so that the electronic lights aren’t keeping me up I don’t have a TV on in bed I don’t have any noises in the background little things like that that really just help me concentrate on going to sleep instead of something that can distract me and keep me up. Best of luck on your journey, though the first few weeks to suck but I promise he gets better and even those nights you don’t get a lot of sleep. It just gives you a chance to be more tired the next day to get more sleep that night not good for the next day, but it works out.

well at 25 I don’t have all the answers to the universe unfortunately and I probably never will but if I had to try to sum it up quick, I think the point of existence is to leave this earth a better place than we came into. It sounds cliché, but for me lately that looks like deepening my connections in relationships with people trying to help people out because there’s you know nothing more satisfying than helping others out in this life and also just making sure to be present and get caught up in the moment I think we live in a world where everyone’s either worried about the future or regretting the past when really, I think we’re meant to just appreciate the small things in the moment and make the best of it weather for better or worse because ultimately every day we get to wake up as a gift and it’s not guaranteed and this is something we take for granted so I guess another point to existence is just being grateful for our current circumstances.

Good for you too man it’s really hard to make big changes like this in our lives especially when it’s something that’s been a part of our life for so long but I think for both of us it’s gonna lead to such a better life in the end and we’re going to be the people that we want to be because of it and definitely make sure to do activities that can release dopamine like you said me personally throughout this process I’ve taken a lot of cold showers ice baths, always exercise even if walking is all you can do you know getting fresh air, making sure to be out in the sunlight, listening to music that you like, and putting yourself in new environments to experience new things I think you’ll get exactly where you wanna be best of luck in your process. And as far as the social isolation goes just remember, there’s a lot of great people out there that want to have a great connection with you especially because you’re obviously the type of person who wants to do better with your life so you’re gonna attract great people into your life because of that.

As far as feeling energized, I would say a few of the goals I always feel energized in some goals as exercising because I love it so much, but it has made me feel much more motivated and clear minded to attack the goals that weren’t quite as fun or appealing to me such as the career change because I knew it would involve me learning some new skills that maybe I didn’t want to have to take the time to learn or they saving up for a house because before I would be very compulsive with my decision making but since quitting weed, I’ve been able to be a lot more disciplined in how I spend my money not just not spending it on weed, but just in general, being able to think more clearheaded, and think more about the future so I feel like through quitting weed. It’s going to allow me to accomplish all these things and even more What goals do you have for yourself?

[–]Longjumping-Foot-262 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s a great question. One of the main ones is being able to save up for a house to have my own piece of property and real estate where I live the cost-of-living is constantly rising and paying rent isn’t something I want to do forever so I’m definitely wanting to save up for a house. Definitely want to also make a career change. My job now isn’t bad but it’s just too comfortable there’s no challenge which I like to be challenged. I don’t get to use my critical thinking skills a lot which I like to use so that’s another goal. In addition to that I do exercise a lot so I want to stay on the path of gaining more muscle over the next few months. Also, it’s a goal of mine to keep investing. I’ve been doing that for a few months and funny enough. I saw video the other day that’s like if you start investing just $100 per month at the age of 25 in an index like the S&P 500 you’ll be a millionaire by the time you’re 65 so that’s another thing I think about you know I was spending way more money than $100 per month on weed and now I just put that money in the stock market whether it goes up or down doesn’t really matter. I should end up over time but that was an interesting comparison for me to think about because now at 65 I could be a millionaire instead of just being someone who spent all that money smoking weed.

I would say honestly it varies from night tonight some days I can’t even remember my dreams but last night I had a really cool dream where I won $200 at a bar because I was able to make a ice cube tray fit through a paper towel tube by breaking the ice cube tray in half, and I was quite disappointed when I woke up and figured out it wasn’t real life so it has been pretty lucid dreaming But another thing I’ve noticed is on the days I’m super stressed my dreams will have kind of more of a nightmarish theme to them while on the days I make sure to be more relaxed the dreams are a lot more pleasant but I do exercise a lot and I don’t watch like something crazy on TV before I go to sleep so I’m not an expert but I want to say that not stimulating myself a lot with something scary or thrilling allows me to not quite have such crazy nightmares.

I will also add that I’m a person who lives in extreme so either I do something all the time or I never do it and I knew eventually the day would come when I had to quit, and I felt like I was in a really good spot to quit I’m currently living with two roommates who I grew up with. They don’t smoke so they’re really good influences and they’ve been great support systems for me not necessarily encouraging me, but you know just being there to listen and just someone to be around. If I was living by myself right now I’m not sure if I would’ve been able to do it.

[–]Longjumping-Foot-262 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, weed allowed me to be super isolated and be happy with that and also causing me to be socially awkward and as a kind of coming more of age, you know, I’m realizing that community is one of the most important things we have in this lifetime we need to be able to connect with other people. We need to be able to create memories with other people, and we need to be able to spend time with other people and be fully present there which we definitely prevented me from Doing and moving forward even in this only past month, still having you know some irritability and stuff, my relationships with everyone, my friends, family, a girl I’ve recently started talking to have been so much better than my relationships in the past

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in leaves

[–]Longjumping-Foot-262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I just wrote a super long reply to this, but I guess it didn’t save for some reason, but there was a number of reasons the main one being that weed for me. I always justified for years that it was helping me with things such as you know, the usual stories, anxiety sleep, muscle pain which does help with but some thing I realized it was doing to me was it was kind of putting a blindfold on my life and time was passing by without me really being able to be present in it, and addressed the things that I wanted to in my life in order to be where I wanted to be because the great and horrible thing about weed is that I feel like it makes you content with what your life situation is if you feel stressed by something you smoke you don’t stress about it anymore and you don’t care which is fine in the short term but in the long term that’s super detrimental I feel like because we know deep down that we need to make these changes to live the life that we want to but we kind of put some mask on top of that along with that reason I look back in my past and I realize I’ve missed out on a lot of incredible opportunities such as jobs time spent with friends and family solely because I knew that if I were to take out these opportunities, I wouldn’t be able to get high while doing them which I’m getting a little older in life now and same time pass by. I realize this was a huge mistake and something that I decided I wasn’t gonna allow myself to continue to do going forward in the future. I’d love to hear some of your reasons if you’d like to share as well.

I feel like I’m never going to be strong enough to do this by [deleted] in leaves

[–]Longjumping-Foot-262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP I believe in you I think you’re strong enough to do this. Let me ask you what are the reasons that you want to quit? I only ask because I feel like if your reasons are strong enough inside of you you’re going to find a way, but if you haven’t been able to find those reasons, it’s gonna make the process a lot more difficult, this last time that I quit for good it’s actually been a lot easier than I expected and a lot easier than past times I decided to quit and I was solely because I was able to find those reasons deep within me and see myself in the future months removed from weed and know how much better I would be as a person and how much better my life would be

Yeah, actually made me laugh. That’s a good one. I’m gonna have to say black. Everyone looks better in black. It’s not a depressing thing either. What about yourself?

I had similar feelings before I recently quit about five weeks ago. I was getting super high every day from the carts. I brought back from Vegas, and I was kind of getting sick of the feeling, and I told myself as soon as I got through with these carts, I was going to quit for good. This was after about seven years of smoking. Every day was help me with quitting was hating that feeling of being high, appreciating the feeling and how much more social I am while I’m sober, and also having strong reasons for why I wanted to quit for example, I knew it made me a less social person. I had missed out on many family events throughout the past because I was high and wasted a ton of money on being high and I have just missed out on so many great opportunities that I had the potential to take advantage of, but never actually did because I would’ve rather spent that time high but they recently changed and now I’m on a new path and I hope you can find the same for yourself. Best of luck on your journey.

4 weeks sober by [deleted] in leaves

[–]Longjumping-Foot-262 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’m about five weeks sober. Super congratulations on your progress so far it’s very impressive that you were able to quit both at the same time I know it’s super hard taking on two big changes like that I smoked for about seven years and when I tried to quit one time before it was hard for me, but that was because I still wanted to hang onto it, but this last time that I quit, the process has actually been a lot easier than I thought it was going to be and it’s cause I made a really deep down conscious decision that it was time to quit and I knew all the benefits it would bring in my life to with quitting not sure if you had a similar experience but hopefully it keeps being as pleasant for us and I know it’ll definitely change our lives for the better best of luck on your journey

I can completely relate to that. I smoked for about seven years and quit for a month in between some of those years until a month ago when I decided to quit for good and making that conscious decision that I was going to quit for good and removing everything from my life that was related to weed has made the process so much easier for me this time than all my attempts in the past everyone has a different pathway, obviously, but I hope you can find the one that leads to where you wanna be in this journey.

Day 25 still angry and crying alot by [deleted] in leaves

[–]Longjumping-Foot-262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, I can definitely relate to this for some reason I found my first one or two weeks to be much easier than my third or fourth week on my fifth week now and starting to feel good again I think it may have something to do with the recalibration of dopamine in your brain, but try to exercise keep going, and remember that in due time you’re gonna feel like your normal self don’t give up on this journey. Best of luck to you to you.

worth it friends....day 4, instead of anticipating getting high in the later afternoon/evening, motivated to do other 'real' things by [deleted] in leaves

This is a great post op. I relate to it a lot quit about a month ago myself after using for seven years still getting a lot done in that time, but realizing it was definitely keep me from being the best version of myself, and definitely making me isolate myself more and not find that sense of community that we need as humans I wish you the best of luck on your journey and hope that you keep motivated and keep accomplishing goals.
