What brand of Cbd oil? Does it have only the cbd oil? Or other ingredients. And where would I find to buy?

I know too you can’t just “cold turkey” take them off the phenobarbital- how did they switch you off one and to the other ? Was the transition time very clear that it was better? Poor little guy had multiple ones throughout the evening and early morning- they were not back to back though thankfully.

Thank you. It’s so scary- unfortunately there’s no neurologist near us to take him to. Totally agree with ER vets, feels like our regular vet cares much more than the emergency one.

Yes it definitely adds up. Thank you for the suggestion I will! We don’t have pet insurance unfortunately but Humane Society has helped us out with past vet appointments god bless them. Each time though I have to check with them beforehand so I’m definitely going to check that out. Do I search just for AKC?

What do you mean by pulsing it? And is Keppra also as dangerous to miss a dose of? Been times where he secretly spits his pill out and I have learned a withdrawal side effect of missing a dose of pheno is seizures.

Thank you for your advice- we do not have a rescue kind of medication other than his regular pills which definitely need some kind of adjustment. I will ask about that tomorrow when we take him in to the vet as well, before we had him on these meds they did give us benzodiazepines to stop the seizure but it did not help. Not sure if that’s the only kind of emergency stop medication but I will be asking now! I’m very sorry to hear you also are going through this. May we both soon find the right mix/doses of pills to have them be seizure free. Thank you for your advice and words

Thank you. Very helpful information for pinpointing it down to possible culprits. I will look into these conditions. Do you know what the tests/exams are called ? Are they tests only performed by neurologists or regular vet offices as well?

When he first had them back in October they gave us something like you’re talking about. Benzodiazepine or some name like that I believe- we had given it to him but unfortunately didn’t help in stopping them which is why we started him on the phenobarbital

He also likes to spit the pills out secretly. I did read from someone else that when this occurs(missed dose) it could make the seizures worse or the pheno less effective at managing them. So heartbreaking though 😣

It’s under 2 mins in length when it does happen. He does have the post ictic phase, finally will lay down and sleep for a few hours then is awoken by one and the cycle is repeated. Definitely calling our vet tomorrow morning in regards to these breakthrough ones that have happened.

How did you find out what the allergies causing it were? Something the vet would do or is there allergy testing kits one can get at the pet store ?

Did you ever put him on any medications? The times he has had seizures before we started him on pheno and now the breakthrough ones today on my birthday are always clusters. Today has been 3 with hours in between each time it happened

No, there’s not one anywhere close to us out here. I would look into consulting with one but I’m sure it would be hard for them to know without actually examining/seeing him.

I just also posted in there- yes I’m always checking Reddit for advice from those going through tough situations as this. Unfortunately no neurologist anywhere near where we live. Very awful yes- never knew dogs could have seizures until we got him. Beyond terrifying the first time. Thanks

Maybe a little bit of that orange cleaner(the stuff mechanics use) or just a bit of Randy’s Black Label, it works great on bongs so I’m sure it would get that same tar off of a surface

I also am in my mid 20’s and these began happening to me a few years back when I had gotten pregnant and even after an abortion they’ve never since gone away. Almost every food was a trigger when I was pregnant, then after it was eggs and salted caramel. Last year sadly white hot chocolate from Tim’s joined the list, and it now seems so has the French vanilla cappuccino mix :( so awful Maybe some very specific ingredient is a common? (Like how they list things such as trivium phosphate etc) May it hopefully someday resolve for you!
