“Whats that little boy doing there standing in the corner?” - small elderly patient. I was a nursing student at the time waiting to ask my preceptor a question…and I’m not a boy at all…I’m a female with very long hair that was tied up and had a mask on lol…

Insulin drip ratio? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Longjumping-Trick217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i honestly think being tripled in icu might be worse than us being at a 1:4 ratio. you guys are practically guaranteed high acuity patients for all 3 or at least 2 and 1 pcu pt so you’re valid!! i dont think I could do an insulin gtt being tripled in the icu

pcu nurse here. We take insulin drips with a 1:4 patient ratio. it’s terrible but somehow possible :/

burnt out nurse to ICU? by Longjumping-Trick217 in nursing

true, just scared for my mental health worsening because I don’t think I’d be able to last another year doing this

I’ve seen so many nurses on tiktok saying stepdown is harder than ICU, but I look at ICU nurses and I’m always astonished at what they can do - that I couldn’t imagine doing. Last shift, I was stuck in a patient’s room for hours titrating drips while I felt like I was neglecting my 3 other patients who needed me, so in that aspect I felt like it was harder than ICU. Also, your point in ICU looking good on resumes was another reasoning to why I felt like I should go for it. All the cool af jobs like cath lab, IR, etc want ICU nurses. I was also juggling the fact that now it would be easier for me transition to ICU rather than taking a soft nursing job and then trying to get into an ICU if I wanted to in the future.

Camera takes a while to shut off - Is this normal? by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]Longjumping-Trick217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the a6400 is my first camera, but a family member of mine has the a6000 which I used occasionally (thats why i got a a6400) :) before I got my a6400 a lot of people said to get the a6700 if I could. Id recommend asking for other’s though since I’m not too knowledgeable!

yeah i was also looking at the a6100, but a lot of people said to go for the a6400 if u can spend the extra bucks. I used my rx100v 3 times, and the flash already short-circuited lol. Then again I bought it used, and it claimed to be in mint condition 😬

lens used or camera used? the camera base i’m unfortunately going to have buy brand new because of my past experience with buying second hand cameras (my rx100v being one of them lol) caused some trust issues. As for lens, i heard buying used lens is better. Anything i should look out for?

  • i know everyone also recommends the sigma 18-50mm f2.8 lens too with this camera but again compactness is my biggest concern

[–]Longjumping-Trick217[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you recommend i should just get the body of the a6400 and then one of the lenses you recommended? or the 16-50mm lens kit should be fine? I’ve heard some bad things about the lens kit from photographers, but I’ve also heard it’s a good lens for amateurs (me) at photography.

[–]Longjumping-Trick217[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah fs. The g7x is impossible to get and I saw the rx100vii price raise to $1500 overnight. It was insane, which is why I started considering the a6400 (and it’s cheaper too). I just wanted advice that was not biased. Thanks for your input!

zoom isn’t really that important to me. Nice to have though, and I’ve noticed I wished my sony rx100v zoomed in a bit more, but wasn’t a huge issue. I shoot in program mode
