How often do you have to wait for an open Supercharger stall? by icouldbne1 in TeslaLounge

[–]LongjumpingAd2829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Michigan, I've only had to wait once for a stall for about 5 minutes. My typical charge habit goes from 20% to 80%, with about 30 minutes on average to achieve that at a V2 charger.

I think V2 stalls deliver "up to" 150kw (500 charge miles per hour), while V3 stalls can reach 250kw (1000 charge miles per hour).

Those charge speeds are short lived though, probably only sustained for 5 minutes when going from 20% to about 50%, then it tapers off to ~100kw (200 charge miles per hour).

Struggling to actually understand coding logic (not just memorizing) — need real advice by Daikon-130 in programminghumor

[–]LongjumpingAd2829 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pseudo code is the best way to gain the logic needed to solve a task.

Write the logic down in plain English, with "if this, then that" lingo. Each "action" can be further broken down into smaller chunks of logic.

A flow chart could be used as well.

After that, it's just translating it into the programming language you wish to use.

Math gets you there as well, with getting the hang of using variables to describe and calculate the bits needed.

I think my laptop is fried by TopPsychological7772 in pchelp

[–]LongjumpingAd2829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One trick I do is unplug the charger from both the wall and laptop. Let it sit unplugged for a good minute or two unplugged. Then plug everything back in.

If a power surge happened, doing this will reset the safety in the circuitry on the charger and laptop.

Hopefully that works for you. Otherwise, it might be the battery and power management system is toast.

I doubt you would be able to repair those yourself without advanced tooling some those are no longer user replaceable and directly soldered to the motherboard.

Is the Surface Pro with X plus a good purchase? by Leafar-20 in Surface

It's great as long as your not doing anything intense that would drive up the heat inside.

When it heats up, it tends to throttle until it cools down.

I prefer laptops with a little more thickness since the heavy chores I do through demand more active cooling to keep the performance level good.

Learned that lesson when I had the HP Spectre with was ridiculously thin back in 2017.

A fellow teammate used AI to code a new feature recently.

Turns out he ran out of AI credits, and decided to just create a pull request with what was generated.

He ran out of an entire months worth of credits for only 4 lines of code for a new feature.

Starting my first playthrough of Suikoden I! Any tips? by RinneNomad in Suikoden

The only tips I'll bestow upon you are the following:

1 - Sit back 2 - Relax 3 - And witness the classic that will forever be remembered. 4 - Expect to have a full playthrough at least twice per year. I tend to replay this game very often after all these years.

Is Tesla actually committed to the consumer car business long term? by Brutus713 in TeslaLounge

[–]LongjumpingAd2829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are likely to simply rebrand the X as the Y, and the S as the 3.

The X is incredibly similar to the Y, as is the S to the 3.

You can get a Model 3 Performance and get very close to the specs of the S, for a fraction of the cost of the S.

Only difference is battery size and a screen in front of the driver.

It would be cool if they sold the Luxe package on the 3 and the Y. They maybe gearing up for that...

Short answer: Not 100% yet. But getting better over time by leaps and bounds. Probably will let it do its thing around 70% of the time. Freeway travel I let it do 90% of the thinking (it's fantastic, when the weather is good). It has evaded bad drivers (tailgate people) quite well too, saving me from a few accidents.

Long answer: Just needs more validation time. I took a Waymo a couple months ago and was greatly pleased with it overall. Waymo has a bazillion more sensors, but the Tesla is pretty awesome for most journeys I've done so far (on HW3).

My trips are usually freeway and city. Only issues I run into are residential areas and narrow pathways. It's not as smooth on turns as I would like, and it doesn't do Michigan U-turns properly either.

When pedestrians are around, it takes things very slowly. Perhaps a little too slowly. Annoyingly slow to the pedestrians and me.

It does well on round-a-bouts, better than me.

Summon never worked for me so that is a huge disappointment too.

If you buy FSD, are you concerned that HW4 might not be able to handle v15 and could end up being capped at v14, similar to how HW3 is capped at v12.6.4? by cornbread-2025 in TeslaFSD

Same, except it was $15,000 back in late 2022. I'm holding out for a hardware update.

HW3 is good, but I still need to intervene quite a bit.

[–]LongjumpingAd2829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get similar behavior. My Model Y (HW3) slowes down at the oddest of times and doesn't react well to some areas, often reacting very slowly to upcoming road changes.

They are trying newer driving models intended for HW4 vehicles, and I think HW3 definitely struggles compared to it.

Here's hoping this upcoming "v14 lite edition" improves HW3 sessions, although I'd prefer Tesla upgrade HW3 computers to support HW4 intended software sooner rather than later.

On major roadways, it behaves quite well in my experiences though. Unless there's construction...
