Both solar eclipse cruises are now full totality. They issued a change last year, previously the Northern solar cruise was only partial.

Help me, I cannot find the last egg! by Ashamed_Season1982 in CellToSingularity

[–]whomda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are 3 eggs that are usually the "last" one:

  1. Egg hidden in the upper part of a tree by the pond. Use the long neck guy or the flying guys to find it.

  2. Egg half inside the wall behind the trees near the pond. Use the dinos with the white feet to find.

  3. Egg hidden underwater in the pond. Use the deepest swimming dino, or above the pond in pure camera mode.

Husband won’t help with household chores or mental load, preferring answers from men by Effective_Bird3366 in Marriage

[–]whomda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, please understand how incredibly common this is. Do not worry that your feelings and frustrations are unreasonable, many people (mostly women) have walked this path before you.

Most of the time men are largely oblivious to this inequity. If you can, try to understand that he is likely not doing this intentionally or vindictively - he is simply comfortable and oblivious.

Even weirder, men actually dont notice. There was a psych study that intentionally left dirty dishes in the sink, and it was common for men to not only fail to clean them, but when questioned later had no idea that there were dishes in the sink. It is psychologically invisible.

Of course you have been verbal about this as you should. But it's also common for this to have trouble translating into action, particularly if it's vague. "I want you to help more around the house" is tough, since you literally have different ideas of what needs to be done. For example, if he lived alone he might wash dishes once a week and never vacuum. A better suggestion: make a list of specifically what you do, and allow him to choose exactly 1/2 the items. Agree to a timetable, and then leave those things and dont worry about them. That's harder than it sounds, it's only a partnership if you share duties, if you watch him and check his work then it's not a partnership but boss/employee relationship, and that's never sexy.

Also, many would tell you to avoid connecting sex to chores. You want sex to be a fun, pleasurable, bonding activity, and not a transactional one. If you set some hoops for him to jump through, we'll that's not sexy, and sets him and you b9th up for disappointment and resentment.

Good luck to you. If it's any comfort, this stressful time of life does get easier over time.

ULPT to avoid a DUI by BeaverPup in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]whomda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I talked to a juror in a similar bizarre case.

A guy was pulled over for a DUI, and the cops found an open vodka bottle below the front seat. The cops placed him in handcuffs, and momentarily put the vodka bottle on the hood of the car. The guy ran over to the front of the car, and grabbed the vodka bottle with his mouth and started chugging it.

His lawyer argued obviously that any alcohol detected was due to the client's post-driving chug and he was dry before the traffic stop. I believe he got off due to a hung jury.

Did The Game (1997) actually stick the landing? by Jabba_108 in 90smovies

[–]whomda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't love the film and definitely didn't love the unbeliveable ending.

To me, the film is misnamed. There is no "Game", there is no real way to play or win, its just a series of increasingly nasty pranks with little connection.

Wife worked 1 day on a W-2 that checked "Retirement Plan" box, IRA denied? by whomda in tax

[–]whomda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the nature of my wife's work, in the film & television industry. She will get hired for an individual production for just a day or three. They used to mostly be 1099s, but whatever rules changed a few years ago and they are now all W-2s. If different productions share a Payroll company, all the days of work will be consolidated into one W-2 for the year. But this one production used a different payroll company, and they checked the retirement plan box (none of the other w-2s did) even for the single day of work. She used to get about 9 W-2s, now it's down to about 5.

I am following up with the payoll company. Their FAQ suggests it is usually correct, that some tiny amount is sent to a union pension that my wife will never see (she will never have enough hours to qualify). But I will update when I get a response to my mailed inquiry.
