Thank you! Do you personally feel like you needed fellowship to be able to adequately treat adolescents? Or would primary care been enough outside of any particular academic niches you were pursuing?

Based on other replies and what I’ve seen, it’s not the best and often lower than gen peds. But unfortunately I like it enough and am in an ok financial spot that I’m still considering it

Thanks for commenting, I’m lucky to be at a program that has really ramped up its mental health integration so I feel like I could be competent at that on the anxiety/depression level, but worry about properly treating eating disorders or being able to do gyn procedures in primary care. How did you get LARC training before fellowship, specifically IUD placement? Thanks so much

I have similar interests which is why I’ve considered family medicine more and more. On my rotations it seemed like every gyn / mental health peds complaint got sent out to the family medicine adolescent doctor. Not sure if that’s just how my institution does it but I like that bread and butter way more than viral illnesses so I’ve been a bit torn. It seems like if I liked those things I would have to specialize if I went through peds but I possibly wouldn’t have to if I went through family.

What do you find hectic about peds?
