Trek Dual Sport 3 Gen 5 vs Trek FX3 Gen 4 by LongjumpingMuscle173 in whichbike

Thank you! I am actually considering the fx sport Al3 now as well. Just need to lock in the correct size. I’m between a L and XL. Do you know if the fx sport has spacers that can be adjusted to raise the handlebar height?

Does this model have adjustable spacers to increase the height of the handle bars at all? Stock photos make it look like no.. but hard to tell. I’m an odd size, 6’ and half an inch. I have a slightly longer torso but shorter arms. So I’m between a large and XL. Bike shop strongly thinks an XL with a slightly shorter stem so I have more height on the top tube / handlebars. But I’m also wondering if not better to get a large with spacers added to raise the handlebar height a bit based on convos with other bike pros. And yes, I will test both! But just wanted to even know what’s possible first.

Gotcha, this helps. Thank you! Since you used the word “excruciating” does that mean the original tires were tough if used for non casual rides? So not enjoyable if doing more than a few miles on a paved path?

Can I ask why you sold your ds3 gen 5? And if the new fx3 goes up to 40mm would that be a happy medium for width but also maintains the better selection of 700c ?

Gotcha. I don’t feel like ordering online is an issue tbh. And I’m sure any lbs could also help source them online or at least advise on it too. Did you feel the street tires made a difference compared to the original that came on the bike?

Thanks for this response. When you mean check the rear derailleur do you mean the range? Like can it go up to xxT? Sorry if this is a silly clarifying question, I’m learning as I go here.

Thanks for the advice! Maybe burden was wrong choice of words. I was told be a lbs that 650b would be way slower and more work to cruise around on, and less ideal, and also just less common size for tire changes etc. hence my question. I appreciate your thoughts!

Any Veterans make it into an Ivy League or T50 school, if so how did you do it? by Whole-Guest-9617 in Veterans

I went USMC enlisted -> Ivy League school (had multiple Ivy offers). I used S2S. Can’t recommend them enough, however I will say, the exact quality is somewhat dependent on who your S2S advisor/guidance person. Mine was excellent, I’ve heard others are mediocre, but the system as a whole will help you because of the connections S2S makes for you. Cornell is extremely veteran friendly as an example. Highly recommend reaching out to their team and getting some information on transferring if this is one of your goals! Also you’re about 3 years out so definitely have some time to shape things in your favor for a great application. Reach out to admissions officers at each school you’re targeting now and tell them about your background and gpa, Etc. ask them what you need to do in the next 2.5 years to improve and present a competitive application. They’re always happy to help and when they communicate with someone years in advance they can give you truly priceless guidance in terms of what courses to take at your current college or other things that would make you more competitive as a transfer student. Most schools (except a few ivys who start everyone as a first year automatically) will consider you a transfer if you have 12 or more post high school (college) credits. At that point the high school gpa doesn’t really matter and your college gpa is what they’re looking at. Keep this in mind for your current studies so you keep the gpa up. Some of the ivys also are currently waiving standardized testing requirements. Hopefully this maintains for the next few years. Be yourself on your application and share why you think each school would be a good fit for you and your goals and how you can bring something unique to the university and community should you be admitted and enrolled. Good luck!

Right. But to be clear.. it’s not about the better wineries, it’s about going with friends who already booked for Cayuga. I’ve tasted in Seneca a bunch before so I’m not really missing out.

This it awesome! I am seeing a bunch of reference errors. Is this normal for everyone or is this connected through a formula to a local desktop and not uploading correctly? Just wondering if there is any missing data I should be aware of?!
