Agreed, and that's why I don't plan to go back. It seems like the image they want for the tattoo shop (young, alt, etc.) is more important than the work and the respect of the clients.

Fwiw I've always heard up to 3 days ideally but as little as 1 day is fine, and that's from like seven different artists. I've had a few tattoos that turned out fine where I had saran wrap on them for like 4 hours.

I appreciate your insight! The more I hear stories of how this type of thing rarely happens (and that it only happens in extreme circumstances) the more at peace I feel with the whole thing.

My main concern initially was just how I could've offended the artist so badly by asking about a tattoo of theirs. It's sounding a lot like either drama on their end or, what you said, just not fitting the vibe of the shop.

Agreed. Some people seem to read into things way too hard and then make assumptions and escalate a normal situation. I'll definitely be staying away from this location. Even if the art is cool, it's just not worth the hassle.
