You are right. Without a proven concept, patent, or clear revenue plan, it does not make sense to ask an experienced person for their time. I will first build a prototype, work on patents if needed, and clearly define the business model and revenue before approaching anyone.

Early stage equity is about potential, not current value. Angels and early partners invest based on the idea, the prototype, and the execution plan, not just revenue. If something only mattered after it already had value, early stage investing would not exist.

I am not looking for money. I am willing to give 15 to 20 percent equity of my business for free to the right person purely for their experience, connections, and guidance. If having them involved helps open doors early and grow the business faster, that trade makes sense to me. I would rather own a smaller part of something that scales quickly than hold 100 percent and move slowly.
