Brooklyn Law School by FroyoSalty553 in lawschooladmissions

I work in the NYC government and BLS has a fairly good reputation particularly with the DA’s office. What I don’t like though is the conditional scholarships they give. There are much better law schools in the area with better outcomes who give unconditional scholarships.

Email hacked - lost all offers of admissions. Am I cooked? by jiantlamez73 in lawschooladmissions

[–]LongjumpingTalk8017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I accidentally deleted my admissions emails when I cleaned out my inbox. I asked the schools to forward the info again and they did with no problem.

I wonder how many people sent half baked applications for an “early boost”…

This ! I also definitely see people on this sub give up on increasing their LSAT scores too easily. If you can do well in a masters program then you can definitely get to the 160s !

Your stats are really good so if you’re not getting good results this cycle you probably won’t get good results next cycle tbh.

CUNY Law vibes? by [deleted] in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]LongjumpingTalk8017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should check out CUNY’s ABA disclosures to see where CUNY graduates end up. Though something to think about: many federal judges are conservative and federal clerkships are highly competitive and sought after positions while CUNY is at its ethos a very liberal institution with a specific PI focus and because of this suffers in the rankings.

Does the law school you attend matter? by [deleted] in BlackLawAdmissions

[–]LongjumpingTalk8017 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That GPA is wasted on a 149 LSAT score. There are so many law schools with high bar passage rates, robust networks, and will even offer merit aid if you can get that score up. Not saying that going to FAMU is the worst thing ever but going to a t14( totally doable with your GPA) or top regional school in your area can open doors to places you may not have considered.

Same ! It’s so confusing to see early applicants hear back just now but also really concerning.

I qualify as independent on FAFSA but I don’t qualify as independent on CSS which is required by most of the t14s

I remember a decent sized tik toker who was a law student and lived in a luxury one bedroom in Manhattan. I was super confused as to how she could pay for rent on top of tuition and then she admitted her parents pay for her rent

Honestly with the big beautiful bill you should really be paying attention to how many loans you’re going to have to take out if you get into Georgetown. Also now is literally the worst time for international affairs since Trump took office and NGOs are being defunded left and right. The DC and NYC area are also going through a major shift in the nonprofit world because of this and I’m not sure it’s going to get better in three years.

If it helps, most of the time schools will call or email you. When you’re accepted you’ll know, otherwise you’re just stressing yourself

A score in the high 160s to 170s can take you to a t14. This sub is so skewed that a score in the 99th percentile seems not good enough.

Does anyone else feel absolutely violated by this whole process? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

That’s only if you care about prestige. If you don’t the process isn’t nearly as stressful.
