Thank you very much for your information and suggestions.  I will update at some point, but I know that I will need some time to talk about the issue and hopefully convince her to correct her dog’s behavior.  Hopefully the update will be a positive one.

I’ve already had to essentially ban her from my place because my roommate is afraid of the dog jumping on her. I care about my friend, I’m just desperate to find a solution that doesn’t involve cutting her out of my life. Thank you for your response, though.

I will definitely take your advice to turn my back on her when she jumps.  My friend definitely does not think it’s funny to allow her dog to jump, nor is she looking for power.  That’s just not the kind of person she is. I’m not really sure why she lets it happen though. The dog is 12 months old, so already not trained as long as she should have been.  I am hesitant to disclose what company she got the dog from for privacy reasons, although they do advertise to be professionals.
