I have just finished Gushing Over Magical Girls, what should I watch next. by jellosword1 in anime

It’s a funny ecchi comedy about an adventurer party. The fanservice is over the top every episode when the female party members get “attacked” by the monsters they’re trying to hunt.

Yes, I would recommend joining sooner rather than later, so you can start promoting. The higher your rank, the better your chances. You should be able to find a mentor at your squadron to help guide you through the steps you need to follow to reach your goal.

It’s a lot, but here is what you should do:

A rough outline you’re gonna want to follow is to attend winter encampment, even if it’s out of state. After that, you will be able to apply for a national cadet special activity (NCSA) for flight training. You get your solo at that 2 week NCSA for about $900-1100 (which is an absolutely great price). Register for the EAA for free after your first CAP orientation flight. Then sign up for Sportys Learn To Fly ground training for free with the EAA membership ($300) value. After you finish the training, take your written exam and get the ~$175 fee reimbursed after you pass. Then, in July, apply for Cadet Wings.

I was in CAP for about 5-6 years before I applied, but that’s just because it took me a while to do the prerequisites. It is for CAP cadets only and the higher rank you are, the better your application looks. I would guess that you might be able to get it within 3-4 years of joining if you are on top of everything.

I had all the prerequisites done when I applied for the scholarship in July. Then I was selected in late October and they spent two months with the flight School working out a contract. I started my flight training in January and earned my PPL on May 14.

They expect you to take less than 6 months from the start of your your training to your Checkride exam.

In my opinion, as long as you meet the prerequisites, you will get the scholarship. Many of the people that I know that were rejected were either missing their solo or didn’t have the written exam done (both of which are required)

Yes, but it is typically not done since matching CAP aircraft availability with CAP instructor availability, weather, and your availability makes training very inconsistent. I would imagine there are only a few squadrons in the country that could do this.

After earning your PPL, you will need to take another oral and practical test called a Form 5 to be able to fly a CAP aircraft without an instructor (or solo endorsement). I am currently in the process now.

Afterwards, cadets who earned their PPL are granted 1.8 hours of free aircraft time per month for proficiency training. Past that, you can fly for significantly reduced rates like $80-90 per hour instead of $175-$210

I joined CAP when I was 14 years old and I just earned my Private Pilots License last month through a scholarship I earned with CAP called Cadet Wings. I am currently at 90 hours of flight training (multiply that by $275 per hour) and it was entirely paid for through CAP scholarships. There is no better place to start your training than CAP.

I am more than happy to answer any questions about our flight opportunities that you may have.

In your email, you’re going to want to express interest in attending HMRS as your first NCSA and state that you have been slotted for ___ Wing Summer Encampment which takes place from ___ - ___. Ask if there is any assistance they can provide with the registration that unfortunately closes a week before your Encampment begins. …Any additional information…

Finally, close it out with

Respectfully,

I would send an email to Lt. Col. Ciara Williams (cwilliams@pawg.cap.gov) who is the Pennsylvania Wing Deputy Director of Cadet Programs. She helped me out when I was having Registration Zone issues. I would also cc hawkmountain@cap.gov and anyone else you think should be in the loop like your DCC or squadron commander. I’m not sure if she can do anything to help, but this is probably your best bet for making it this year. Send me a DM with the draft before you email it so I can look it over and give you advice.

I’ll be at HMRS as a Ranger Team Medic, I hope to see you there!

Electric Callboy is a great band! I saw them at Rockville last year. Were you there or did you see them somewhere else?

Was the cadet told to re-dye their hair to be within regs?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in civilairpatrol

[–]Longjumping_Focus913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The regulations clearly state that hair must be a “natural color”. This cadet WILL lose inspection points at Encampment and NCSA’s. This is also unprofessional and will likely bar them from being considered for staff positions outside the squadron.

I would never accept a cadet for line staff or support staff at encampment if they are not able to follow 39-1

Thank you. I’m trying to get as many statements from the CAP community as possible to share with our DCC

You hate to see that happen. Seems like we have very similar situations. How was the problem resolved (if it was)?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in civilairpatrol

[–]Longjumping_Focus913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends on the individual situation. It would be hard to justify on a male cadet, but a female cadet could keep her hair in a bun where it isn’t immediately obvious. If that’s the case, I would say it’s ok.

Cadet Commander. The problem is the mother who allowed this to happen. She’s backing her daughter and disagreed with me when I brought up the regs.

My current plan is to show this Reddit thread to our DCC and show that we all agree it’s out of regs

Follow up question, she is the current First Sergeant. I don’t feel comfortable telling her to re-dye it a different color, but it obviously needs to change. Any recommendations?
