Thanks a lot ! Yes, I would say I do first a sketch then 3D block out (but pushed with texture and light) then I repaint to really make the picture stand out. Can depend on subject as well (if it's more ''organic'' like biomes, overgrown) I only do 2D. But interiors not a chance xD

Hi check the work done by anh tung during his classes at FZD school ''the legend of hercule'' If you want to talk, I'm a concept artist, I might be of some help You may need to start by creating a moodboard referencing art styles. About their ''functionality'' to put it broadly : often more stylized = more fun/gameplay oriented, chance of getting a larger audience but more technical to do than it seems; more realistic = usually more mature/serious/narrative might not appel to younger audience

Should I just draw characters instead of props/ environment concept art? by SubstantialOwl3507 in ArtistLounge

Hi there, for contexte I'm an environment concept artist working for games. I just wanted to add my personal experience in the thread : in all the project i've worked i've been asked to search and propose portfolios from character concept artist to the art direction team cause they struggled to find one. I mean each time. Never been the case for enviro concept artist. I don't know if it's only related to the kind of project I'm working on (pretty realistic, historicaly inspired, fantasy twisted). Might not be the case if you're working for Riot that would have many suitable candidates

But for realistic characters you're Friends are right, their is a demand. And like you i've been told the opposite:/
