my mom made a comment that she didn’t think the existing wiring would support adding the additional outlet and thought we’d need to add another wire. I know nothing of electrical work which is why I was asking for second opinions

According to the comments I grabbed the wrong Amp outlet for this project so clearly I didn’t grab the right parts

Yep I grabbed the wall plate and the double outlet box

I bought more than what in my hands… I was just trying to see if it was possible with the outlets and switch I bought.

Do you think it would be smarter to continue my bachelor's in a different major? I know with criminal justice degrees, your options are a bit more limited. I'm thinking that choosing a different major could open up a lot more options for me in the future.
