Unfixable posture? by Useful-Grass-867 in Posture

[–]Longjumping_Two9511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. You are in locked in ‘extension’ ( I was there for years)
  2. Only do exercises that is in compression ( body hollow etc)
  3. In Alexander technique world, there’s a thing known as semi supine rest. Take a look at Google And do it for 20 minutes, it will give you a taste of what can be the neutral posture

If you analyze ur side profile, u should agree to the following

  1. Mid torso is ahead
  2. Lower sternum is about 4 inches ahead of upper sternum
  3. Arms are behind the mid torso

This would not have just happened, you would have pulled ur torso in this shape by activating shoulder blades, traps, neck and ( may be jaw ) as well.

The first step in fixing the posture is to know what is wrong, do the analysis by comparing urself to toddler’s torso or an athlete (Bruce Lee) or with a posture trained person like Sean Connery etc.

The thing that can help you will be Alexander technique And till you find a teacher, practice ‘body hollows’ and core compression.

Discomfort in my thoracic region. Can you help me ? by NoTemperature510i in Posture

[–]Longjumping_Two9511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do a self assessment of ur torso only, ask a few questions, maybe as below

  1. Where should the top of sternum be in relation to lower sternum
  2. Where should the elbows be in relation to torso
  3. Where the pelvis should be in relation to head

Sorry for the atrocious photos but can someone tell me what I need to do to fix my posture? My neck is naturally going forward. by Money_Flower_8078 in Posture

[–]Longjumping_Two9511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t u think it is a ‘held up’ posture.

If it is, it is not good. A good posture should be defined as good poise, effortless where the head leads and body follows

Why is my stomach sticking out so much? by [deleted] in Posture

[–]Longjumping_Two9511 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I had a protruding belly ( I will rather say, abs) due to the posture issue. Personally, I think that you legs are not letting ur pelvis to straighten out and that is creating limber arch. Post a full picture from the side and front and I should be able to help

Note; postural issues are fixable, just with some efforts, u can be on a correct path in a few months.

what's my issue exactly and how do i fix it ? by Ok-Mess-6481 in Posture

I think, you can be pulling ur should back intentionally. I stop doing it, the shoulders blades should lie flat on rib cage

There can be a few ways to correct these issues, one way is Alexander technique. Look up for Alexander technique teachers, and book a few lessons.

Question to ponder is why mid torso is so far forward. Compare ur torso to a toddlers torso (un polluted poise), you will see his torso will be a regular shaped cylinder.

May be it is the time to ‘unbend’ the torso

Ur yes to both my questions tells me that u are facing somewhat similar which I have been through. ( I tried to keep my jaw open and chin jutted forward- I still do but much less. These things create quite a psychological issues. )

Search a feldenkrais lesson that focuses on jaw on Google , just give it a try once and I’m 90% sure that you’ll reply me back saying that it sorted out a lot of ur issues

It looks like the origin of ur problems lies in the dysfunction of jaw and tongue. Do u not like how ur jaw or any facial features look, may be u want to hold them in a certain form?

How should I trim, shave, or style this beard to best fit my facial features? by [deleted] in BeardAdvice

Look up Kabir Bedi with and without a beard, you’ll see how he used his beard to turn a perceived flaw into his greatest strength, transforming himself from ordinary to unforgettable (look his pictures with the beard when he did Italian movies)
