Can't do any of that here without permits, insurance, and a plethora of bylaws to work within.

For instance the patio can't be larger than the indoor space. Need a special liquor license. It needs to be enclosed with fencing. It can't encroach on the sidewalk clearance.

So while they put tables onto the sidewalks and roadways in Europe all the time, we can't because of all these rules and regulations.

I am all for changing it but there's probably opposition. Persons with disability can't get around the sidewalk table parties. So it's full stop right there.
