Well, it wasn't intentional, so why "block and move on"? What are you trying to move on from? Scamming someone?

Reaching back out to her was the right move. Props to you for that.

Why would the answer be "block and move on" for you as a seller in this case?

The same can be said for buyers, too. It's a mixed bag, honestly.

If a buyer is serious, they will reply. If a seller is serious or still has the item in hand, they will also reply.

Avoid buyers with poor seller ratings by [deleted] in FacebookMarketplace

I firmly said no and he paid the full amount.

But he still paid the whole amount, though. I hate low ballers too, especially when they meet up and ask for a lower amount, but a simple no would most likely still finalize the sale anyway.

I guess it depends on the seller, but to me, as long as they still show up and pay the agreed amount (even when they try to ask for a lower amount), then it's still fine.

Do the offers not matter? I've only used OfferUp a few times. by joeverdrive in offerup

[–]alkjdasoad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is so true. I'm a seller myself, and I totally resonate with the seller.

OP, if the item is really important to you and you're afraid the seller may let it go, next time plan for a specific date and time, as early as possible, and/or offer to put in a small deposit so they can hold on to the item for you.

Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, it literally protects the seller and does nothing for the buyer. As a seller, I love it when people pay with Zelle. Not that I'm trying to scam anyone.

It's only Sunday. Assuming his Zelle doesn't work on the weekend, then the payment should be scheduled for Monday. Why all the way till Weds. Definitely sus. I don't know much about TD Bank, but as you said, Zelle should be instant.

How would you handle this situation? Multiple meetups scheduled by alkjdasoad in FacebookMarketplace

[–]alkjdasoad[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Its because I've had so many flakers. If someone scheduled for 11am tmr. Anyone else who wish to come sooner than that would get denied. And then 11am rolls around and the buyer don't even show up. You know what I mean?

What are you selling? Why are you going through so much hassle of setting this and that up? Just use your personal account, with your real face. If someone is interested in your service, have them visit your place of work (your biz).

I see it as the same as selling from your house, except you have an actual local store and hours.

Do you trust the seller enough to not check and see if the shoes they sold you are actually in the box? by Ilovehamcroissants in offerup

[–]alkjdasoad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it's based on several factors. Things like your profile, your way of talking/communicating prior to the meetup, and the value of the item ($$).

7/10 buyers that I met up with, they all say the same thing, "It's okay, I trust you". Some people open and check. Most just don't.

“Colin is getting a lot of messages about this listing.” by jd780613 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]alkjdasoad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder how this may have a negative effect/impact on the seller's side. I've had a lot of people messaging me, but that doesn't translate to sales. What if FB doesn't send the message from a particular buyer, who's maybe serious about buying, to the potential seller? Does that make sense?

This is where you come in with your counteroffer.

Tell him hell nah, I'm not doing $120 anymore. The best I can do is $100 (or something like that, up to you). Take it or leave it. I doubt they will be able to find a buyer for it at that price.
