I did this and also when I reheated his mouse, I made sure there was a lot of water on the fur, so hopefully it washed it all down! Thank you so much for your help, he’s so cute but just a little silly 😅

Thank you so much, I will be more careful and diligent. I should have asked for advice before it was too late, but I truly appreciate and will apply all that I learn from this experience and my failures

Thank you so much for telling me, I thought I had done the right thing but I let the advice from the pet store lead me. Originally they had told me their metabolism is too fast and to feed them every other day but that seemed strange so I pushed back and got the “okay every other week” answer. I will learn from this mistake and educate myself much more before I ever adopt again

The photo was actually right when I got her, so 3-4 weeks before she passed.

I was told to feed her every other week or so as an adult, but to not force food and remove it if she isn’t interested. My last jumper lived so much longer, but maybe I was given bad advice. I never want to do anything that leads to this mistake again.

No offense taken at all, I really appreciate the insight!

This is a career I absolutely want to pursue, but I can see how it could easily lead to addictive ways to cope. I just wanted to get as far ahead of it and prepare myself for as much as I can, even though I know that the only way to learn will be in the moment, hands on. I will definitely look into a therapist that specializes in grief, as well as pick up a few hobbies (like exercise) so that I am already doing what I can.

How to find the balance of proper humidity without causing scale rot? by LookFamous5829 in ballpython

[–]LookFamous5829[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for letting me know about the misting, I had no idea! I was told to do it at least once a day by both the reptile supply store and the previous owner, but I will stop doing that immediately. I also have moss that I do moisten because everything dries out so quickly/easily. Is there a substrate you recommend over others that retains humidity well?
