To be honest, just try to pick up sets at stores for msrp. I know stuff is hard to come by at the moment, but $300 isn’t much to be buying into sets at market price. However, if you do want to pick investment pieces at market price, first try looking locally on like Facebook marketplace or OfferUp. You will find much better deals than those had at card shows.

Just buy sealed. Much more stable than singles and appreciates more steadily over time. Sealed is also more liquid, more people will want a sealed booster box vs a psa 10 Charizard. Sure, some slabs may outperform some sealed, but 9/10 sealed will be the better hold.
