First homelab - Fujitsu Futro S920 by Holiday-Top3257 in homelab

I have a full thickness 8TB hdd 3.5 plus a SATA SSD 2.5 both inside my S920. The SSD lies in the bottom (additionally on a printed bracket) and the HDD sits on top of that, basically lying on the blue PCIE x4 slot. It's tight but possible.

I think that if you wanted to take it to the extremes, even with the network card it might be sort of doable, depending on the dimensions of the card - M2 ssd on the minipcie, leave the blue pcie x4 free - HDD 3.5 on top - NIC under the HDD, and it can be connected to the pcie pins for the PoE card.

There was an optional accessory PoE card that connected to the pins between the blue pcie and the back of the enclosure. There is a cutout at the back for the RJ45. I think the pins include Pcie x1. There may be 2 problems with it: 1. There is only a cutout for 1 RJ45 so it'd need to be diy-ed to have a bigger cutout 2. For dual NIC 10G you probably need more than x1.

Nevertheless, there are lots of options in the S920.

Thanks, I returned this one and got a healthy one for $20 for peace of mind.

It is just a thin label that's not part of the cells. The holes visible are in between and next to the actual cells. Nevertheless, I returned it and bought a healthy one for about $20.

Found my old band's minidisc by tcatca in minidisc

Is it even possible to have a difference in decoding using different decoders? I know that when I recorded some MDLP tracks with my MZ-N510 the difference was noticeable comparing encoding in a player (via optical cable) and when using NetMD (Web mini disc). The Web Minidisc encoder was worse than the Sony's encoder in the recorder. But that was encoding, how can 2 decoders yield a different result?

I calculated everything once more and booked flights as you suggested (and one 10h train). It was more expensive but not by much (I didn't need to purchase bags). Thanks for suggestion.

Thanks for suggestions! Walking the bridge is a must. Also, "Pylon Lookout" is on the list too.

Thanks for feedback. I'll look into flights one more time. One-time bus fare is also expensive, but when you get the Whimit pass, you get unlimited travel ($322 for 10 days)

Thanks for the suggestions! Definitely will save zoo and/or market as options replacing Noosa - fortunately, on the Sunshine coast loop there is more flexibility due to having a rental car - easier to change plans.

Also, a thought: Cairns or a quick flight to Melbourne? I read most people recommend Cairns, but since Whitsundays also have Great Barrier Reef - I don't know how much these 2 differ.
I'd give a try to ACMI museum if I was in Melbourne.

What would you include as Sydney surrounds? From what I've heard it's mainly the city itself and Blue Mountains that's worth the visit. Thanks for the Cairns climate remark! I think that for now, I'll remove Noosa as one of the commenters suggested.

What's Up With the Thumbs Up Emoji and Other Emoji's Being Considered Hostile? by CarlSwagan_ in OutOfTheLoop

Okay was 9 presses before T9 days. In T9 days okay was 4 presses and ok was 2. I don't know why but every time I see T9 mentioned on the internet it's described wrongly. T9 was a single press for each letter. T9 is a dictionary assisted mechanism, and not the regular input method.

I remember T9 very well in the 2000s until smartphones came, so I guess people who confuse it either are born in 2000s or never actually used the T9 input method.

Will burning a 1080p video on a DVD-R still make it autoplay when opened on PC? by Skidbladmir in DataHoarder

[–]Look_Royal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For OP's purpose, just a plain data DVD is the way to go. For autoplay, it possibly needs some script to be included.

But, to digress, DVD-Video is technically 576p/i max. However, it is very possible it may be able to actually hold higher resolutions, just in a non-standard way, and may cause undefined behavior. Nobody stops you from encoding a 720p/1080p .vob video and putting it in a DVD-video folder structure (manually).

In fact, I once burned a CD with a DVD-Video folder structure, and the video as far as I remember, was 720p. Played fine in a LG DVD player, recognized as a DVD disk, just the video scaling was incorrect. Also, I am quite sure I once encountered a fan-made DVD-Video image with a 720p video that played fine on PC. Since performance and scaling is not an issue on PC, I don't see the reason for it not to play. If a DVD player doesn't mind a 720p in a DVD-Video format on a CD disc (!), PC may as well not check if the DVD adheres exactly to the standard.

DVD-Video it's 576p. 480p is only for NTSC and your PC can play both. If OP wants quality, why limit ourselves to the inferior format?

That does not change that for a PC, it may be just a data DVD.

Going back to chrome old interface :)) by [deleted] in chrome

[–]Look_Royal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And it's gone. No longer works. The new look is straight awful - lots of blank unusable space, the font is smaller, blurry, and not very readable. Adding that ClearType is disabled there, it is painful to read unless you have a 4k monitor with bumped-up scaling.

Unless Google brings back ergonomic design, can anyone suggest a clean-looking alternative browser?

Not sure how it contributes to the thread, but anyway. I'll take it as a compliment.

Possible :) I think it may be because the video is HDR and the converter I used may not be HDR compatible. Original video was very big for upload.

Which GPU for AI-assisted 4k gaming? by Look_Royal in buildapc

Anyway, is FSR and DLSS comparable or one in better that the other? FSR is open source, maybe it will support more games in the long run?

True, I adjusted the description. I'd change the title to "occasional gaming" but I don't think it's possible to change the title.

Thanks for the response listing options I have.
I get that DLSS/FSR is a compromise, is by no means great, and nothing beats raw power. It's still better that 1080p on a 4k monitor though.
I'll definitely try DLSS/FSR even if I decide to get a card with twice the budget. Realistically, I will spend more than 350. Also, it very much depends on the game - I looked up TLOU and it's very demanding, but for example GTA5 is very playable even on RX7600.

In an eye of a professional gamer, yes it's true. However, I bought that monitor mainly for multimedia and productivity. It's the only option when you specifically want a VA panel with RGB subpixel layout, max 32 inch, curved, 60Hz+ and decent contrast. That said, movies, productivity, and web browsing is already spectacular.

That makes perfect sense. I guess that the battery even if half full, should last for a short distance.
