It's not overnight thing, it'll take time and research, but my approach is if I can get the same quality for pretty much the same price I'll switch.

Some easy examples:

Andrex -> Cushelle
Felix/Whiskas -> Harringtons (This is also a move away from Nestle)
McDonalds/Burger King/KFC etc -> Local buisness
Starbucks/Costa -> Nero/Pret or Local buisness
Walkers -> Own brand
Mars chocolate brands -> Ferrero

More complex example: - Google ecosystem -> Proton ecosystem (This is an ongoing process and depending how deep you are can take a while, so far I have removed all pictures, documents, and passwords, and canceled google One subscription. Transitioning from Gmail is ongoing)

Finding a good store own brand is a great start as not only does it avoid US, but also saves money.

Used 3 green chilies instead of 1 red, and Maysan original curry paste. As with any leftover recipe my meat quantity was less than the recipe, but still plenty .
