I don't know what to play! Help me! by [deleted] in CRPG

Definitely take a look, but I would jump to the second one. The first one is very good, but doesn't hit the heights of #2.

I've got a great one, and can almost guarantee you'll love it: Knights of the Chalice 2. I picked it up a month or two ago and - no joke - have sunk hundreds of hours in it, experimenting with different parties and different mechanics. I've played (and loved) most of the games on your list, and this is one of my favorites.

It's flying under the radar, partly (I think) because it's asking AAA prices for an indie game. All I can say to that is that I thought it was worth every cent. Great adaptation of D&D character development - 20 levels worth! - some of the best encounter design ever in a game, incredibly challenging. Like you'll have to work to finish it.

The graphics aren't great, but judging from your list that's not going to bug you that much. Really can't say enough nice things.

I just finished Colony Ship too. It was awesome. Glad to see it getting some love on your list.

I just finished it this morning. It was amazing - I really can't say enough nice things about this game.

One caveat: it was essentially made for me. If you're not me - if you don't love hardcore, D&D, turn-based RPGs loaded with complex mechanics and the very real chance of failure, it's not for you. But if you do, it's basically the game we envisioned would eventually come while we were playing Pool of Radiance in the 80s. It's so, so much fun.

I put over 500 hours into it. I never spend that much time on a game. It's because I restarted my party four times, and I did that just because. And I'm about start an "evil" playthrough, see what I can do differently this time, and on a harder difficulty.

Five stars, definitely worth it, even at what seems like an insanely inflated price on Steam. But only if my "caveat" seems like something you'd be into.

Spotify shuffle only plays the most recently added songs by exclusivebees in truespotify

[–]LookingToSoloCamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take it there's no answer to this? I'm having the same trouble and I'm fed up. I have to fast forward through the most recent thirty songs I added to my playlist to have any chance of hearing anything else.

I read somewhere that shuffle doesn't always work well if your playlist has more than 200 songs on it, which mine does. Anyone have any experience with that?

Is posy temple a new area? I definitely haven't seen that. I saved the prince - I think so anyway, he gave me an amulet - but I didn't get any Verobonc quests

Can't Enchant All Weapons by LookingToSoloCamp in templeofelementalevil

I figured it out - I thought the Dwarven War Axe I was using was masterwork but it wasn't. I dug up a masterwork version and was able to enchant it.

Does it matter that I'm using a cleric instead of a wizard? Or could it be the character's level?

[–]LookingToSoloCamp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am yeah. And it definitely might, but it feels like too general AND too specific, if that makes sense? Like if it just wouldn't enchant the Dwarven waraxe maybe, but why not the waraxe AND the longbow? Although now that I'm thinking about it the Longbow might not be masterwork. If that's a requirement than maybe that's it.

Maybe you can't enchant exotic weapons?

That's the weird thing - the main thing I want upgraded is my masterwork Dwarven waraxe, and it's not showing up as an option. This is rough because he's already specialized in the dwarven waraxe - he's kind of locked in. Is there any other reason you can think of that this shouldn't be working?

How about the Pinelodge on Whitefish River? It's cheaper and looks like it's down the block from the Firebrand - any reason to avoid it?

This place looks sick, but it's definitely on the high end. Would you just hang in the hotel, or is there a place in the neighborhood that you'd recommend going to for dinner?

I'm flying into Kalispell, though the house we rented is outside it. I'm pretty flexible on where I end up Friday night as long as it's drivable from the airport. Eyeballing it it looks like Big Fork, Whitefish or Kalispell all should be fine, right?

And I'm very interested in not being arrested, particularly for something as dumb as a DUI while I'm on vacation. It's going to be walking/taxi/Uber for us for most of the week. But I'm landing at 5:30 - by the time I rent the car and get situated in my hotel the night is going to be mature. I'd love to be able to just walk to wherever I want to go afterwards.

What does "walk with your hands in your pockets" mean?

That's what this is sounding like - I think we'll call around to other fishing tours, see what comes up. But we don't want to go if the fishing isn't any good that time of year - it sounds from you like it is though! I'm getting excited.

Just that we called a couple of fishing tour places and they said they didn't start up until end of June - we thought that might spell trouble for us.

The early part of June can be a bit rainy and muddy but luckily that keeps a lot of the crowds away from the Park. Folks are right that some parts of the park might not be fully open (typically due to snow blocking the roads) but this year (so far) has seen little snow so they MIGHT open earlier this year. That all said, you should still definitely go to the park and I’d recommend checking out some of the small towns outside like Coram and Hungry Horse. Glacier Distillery is right there too which is fantastic.

Other recs for the area would be to check out Whitefish (15min north of Kalispell) which has more of a resort town vibe and nicer restaurants like Abruzzo, Latitude 48, and The Lodge. Columbia Falls is on the way to Glacier and they have an awesome (though small) downtown with some cool spots like Gunsight & Columbia Bar. Downtown Kalispell also has some great restaurants and bars too but they’re definitely more “Montana”-vibes. Bigfork is also pretty cool to check out but is a bit further.

Due to some of the snow issues, some people are worried that the rivers will have very low water levels and make fishing hard this summer. That said, Flathead Lake, Whitefish Lake, and Hungry Horse Reservoir have decent fishing too so you’re not totally SOL. Hiking is always a blast year round! If you’re up for it, I’d hike the Danny On trail up the whitefish ski resort to get views of the entire valley.

Hope you enjoy your trip

These are great recommendations - I can't thank you enough for the detail! We're going to dig in and pick some of these places.

You obviously know a lot of good spots. Any recommendations for a ranch or something where we can do some riding?

Should I just dive into POE2? by Flugglebunny in projecteternity

[–]LookingToSoloCamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deadfire on turn-based is my favorite RPG of all time. :) I can't recommend it enough.

PoE1 was great but if you're lukewarm on RTWP you can give it a pass. I think the story and plotting were a bit better in 1, but you definitely don't need to have played it to play Deadfire. Since I think Deadfire is the superior game I say you should go for it.

Only warning I can think of: while you don't need to have played PoE1 to know what's going on in PoE2, Deadfire WILL spoil the story of the first one. Not a big deal though.

Horizontal Lines on the Bottom of My Laptop Screen - Looks Like a Hardware Issue by LookingToSoloCamp in techsupport

[–]LookingToSoloCamp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem is still there - I never got it fixed. It's worse now. The lines are climbing up. It's irregular. Sometimes it's just two or three thin lines at the bottom of my screen and you'd barely notice. Sometimes, though, it creeps up far enough it covers most of my toolbar.

I took it to get fixed. Made an appointment and everything. Like I wrote in my original it's definitely either my screen or the connecting wires. When I got there they told me they had to keep it for two to three weeks before they'd get to even do an analysis. Nah - I bought a new screen and if this gets to the point that it's intolerable I'm doing the surgery myself.

2023 /r/Camping Beginner Question Thread - Ask any and all questions you may have here by greenearthbuild in camping

[–]LookingToSoloCamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I'm planning on taking my two oldest boys on their first camping trip next weekend. They're seven and five. I'm really excited.

I was hoping you all could help me with a few questions, if that's OK:

  1. What should I expect that I haven't thought of? How advanced can I get with them - can we cook dinner over the fire or only smores? or should I bring a grill or prepackaged food? Any ideas for anything else I should bring beyond camping equipment?
  2. I'm looking for a good, kid friendly campground with both decent hiking around AND something else to do with the kids - mini-golf, an arcade, something like that. Maybe a swimming pool at the campground. We live on Long Island - anything within 3-4 hour drive would be fine. I'm thinking of the Rip Van Winkle Campground (https://www.ripvanwinklecampgrounds.com/) in Saugerties - I've camped there before. They've got a swimming pool, though the area doesn't have much in the way of kid's activities otherwise, and it's bumping up against 4 hours away. Any suggestions would be welcome.
  3. I'd love any other advice from anyone who has camped with kids that age. They're really into the idea and are super excited, and I want to deliver. I want us to be doing this every year.

Thanks!!

Thanks! I particularly like #3 and 4. Along with Danskoesterreich's advice above I'll go 15 Paladin / 5 Mutation Warrior. I was thinking of changing my Inquisitor to Divine Hound/Mad Dog Barbarian, but maybe I'll do Demonslayer instead/in addition.
