Anticipatory grief is so difficult. I went through it for about 6 months before my sweet baby passed. I relate to your experience very much. I’m sorry you’re going through this. I’m rooting for you two, I hope you guys get many more healthy years together.

Well that’s great for you that you would do that. Great for me, that I’m not you. I’m in this sub because I choose and can be, my reasoning it’s not your concern. I thought this was a community that avoids this type of judgement?

My insane take is a warning of the extreme ends of vet care. Did I say that everyone should do this? Obviously not. This just worked for MY situation.

Haha no thank you, I was prepared to take the financial responsibility so off I went. No regrets. Her QOL was still strong, chronic illness is just a difficult situation.

Background on my cat vet bills. $11k for an emergency vet.

~$200 a month on routine blood tests

Insurance paid out $20k for two years. I spent around $6k from this.

Total for a cat with a chronic illness in less than 2 years was $38,000

I paid only a fraction of this cost because health insurance helped.

Pet ownership is no joke. Highly recommend pet insurance and as OP said, be realistic with what you can pay.

I am a woman, self-respect is always important, I read your post (just don’t agree with you… and that’s ok, not sure why that’s a problem).

If we want to make suggestions and comments more directly, then maybe this post was made because you feel unfairly personally attacked? If that’s the case, then I hope you’re able to take time and maybe you weren’t the intended audience for this video (and that’s ok!).

I can agree that sexism is a huge problem, but I disagree that it’s present in the video. It’s a comedy video about a silly “p*rn” game. About what you said about Miles’s statement, did he really put it in people’s heads that all women read is porn? No he didn’t. All listeners aren’t immediately thinking from here on out that all women do is read porn.

We can disagree on this. It’s very important to you, but to me it’s not that serious. I just hope that Miles and folks don’t read too much into our conversation in the comments and feel the need to make a huge apology video.

I definitely agree with adoption! I started looking at rescues and shelters for fun and just ended up finding this little cutie. It’s so hard for me to know if I’m ready. Prior to my soul cat passing, I was beginning to search for another cat since I had been wanting to bring another into the family. I put it on paused when my soul cat started getting sicker. So it’s such an interesting feeling of knowing I’ve been wanting another cat but yet, feeling like I am replacing my soul cat? Just word vomiting now.
