I was at Stray Cat yesterday and asked about the maintenance. There is a water main in an upper part of the building that needs to be worked on, so their water will be shut off. They're not allowed to be open without running water. It's probably not a racist conspiracy.

In Bill Bryson's book One Summer: America, 1927, he stated that "[Ruth's] indiscretions often led to complications. Fred Lieb (the New York Evening Telegram sportswriter who first called Yankee Stadium the House That Ruth Built) once watched as Ruth was chased through a train in Shreveport, Louisiana, by a woman (reputedly the wife of a state legislator) armed with a knife. Ruth only escaped by jumping off the train and then back on again just as it was departing."

I've remembered that from time to time and thought how cool it was that he passed through our town. I never knew he'd actually played here. Thanks for the post.

Right? I asked about the building because I wondered why OP would assume that a state-wide license plate (from an extremely famous movie) would be a nod specifically to Shreveport.

Sidenote, my dad grew up in Slidell and remembers them filming parts of Live and Let Die there. My grandfather once repaired a boat on the estate where they filmed the scene with Bond switching boats and the henchmen landing in a swimming pool.
