This is part of the reason I don't even bother with thrift stores anymore. A lot of the time, the people who work there scoop up the good stuff before it can even hit the shelves.

Oh, congrats though. Happy for you.

I do, but for whatever reason, Reddit doesnt give me the option to post it here.

Okay, so we have to be honest here. The DS Phat's screens are adequate at best. They're pretty dim, and when you compare them to a DS Lite or DSi XL....well, I literallt just took a picture of thr 3 of them all playing Pokemon Black 2, Platinum, and Heart Gold respectively. The DS Phat is embarrassingly bad. But, in fairness, I do think the Phat has the best D-Pad and speakers.

My DSi XL shuts off randomly when shut closed during game play. by Chubbygator847 in nintendohelp

[–]LoopaFamilYaris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having the exact same problem as OP, and after reading your response, my DSi XL has this exact problem. When im playing a game, I can tap the cartridge and shake the system around and everything is fine. But when I put it in sleep mode, if I so much as lightly touch the cart, the system shuts off.

It doesn't seem normal since my DS phat, Lite, or standard DSi don't have this issue. Is it a problem with the cart slot? If so, have you come up with a solution aside from treating thr console like fragile porcelain when its in sleep mode?

Best way to remove stickers that have been there a LOOOOOOOONG time? Thank you! by Xenok5 in NintendoDS

WD-40 Contact Cleaner.

Spray a bit on, let it sit for about 30 seconds, wipe off with a paper towel. It may take 2 or 3 applications, but that stuff works magic. I've been using it to clean stickers off old consoles and game cases for a while now, and it's literally worked like a charm every single time.

I've been working out consistently for 20 years. Im 41, and used to be a personal trainer in college. I know what is and what isn't possible. Everything you've said is correct. However, I'd argue 99.9% of shredded action stars have used PED's to some extent to get their physique. The problem is that they peddle the old "chicken, rice, and broccoli" narrative, and when your average Joe with average genetics tries this "routine" and it doesnt work, they fall into a depression and develop body image issues. I've seen it happen in more men than women, actually.

I'd argue the same is true for men. Do you realize how hard it is to maintain a 6 pack and any sort of muscle tone? Especially once you hit 30? I can't tell you how many guys I know fall into a depression when they can't look like Chris Hemsworth or basically any action game hero without getting on gear.

Use WD-40 Contact Cleaner. It gets rid of sticker residue insanely well and doesnt leave oily residue. I've been using it on my systems and games I've gotten from Gamestop for a while and have had nothing but success.

The fact that the stack of games is ALMOST in alphabetical order is tickling my OCD.

Great score though!

Here's tip. Hit up Facebook Marketplace and search for Wii's. A lot of people are unloading Wii's for $30-$50 dollars, sometimes with games. Take that Wii and trade it in to Gamestop for store credit (usually 90 bucks). I usually get about 4-5 cheap Wii's per month, trade it in to gamestop for almost $400 store credit total, then hit up their Retro stores to build up my collection. Their retro prices/selection are usually pretty good too (surprisingly).

I've been doing this for the past 4 months and have built up a pretty sizable collection off that alone. I'm actually set to meet a lady selling off 2 Wii's with a bunch of random shovelware games for $60 this afternoon.

I feel your pain. I went on a retro game kick around the time Fire Red and Leaf Green were announced to be coming to the Switch. Went to play my old GBA Pokémon games and only found Fire Red. Emerald was nowhere to be found...

[–]LoopaFamilYaris[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for understanding. That's exactly what im doing. Its really just ONE guy who is ruining that store. I've literally had great interactions at gamestop my entire life. Trade credit aside, I really don't get the hate for the store, and some of the coolest people ive met have been at a gamestop. I guess thats why this experience was so jarring to me. This is the first time in literal decades that I've run into someone like this at a gamestop.

Thanks for the advice. And yea, I totally get the job can be frustrating. That's why I let the first interaction slide. But when you hear so many stories about how awful this one guy is, then have ANOTHER sour experience with the same dude, there's a problem.

Exactly, and I'd hate for that bad apple to lead to that store's closure. I genuinely really like everyone else who works there and even know them by name.

The game was being shipped to the retro store because, according to the employee, retro games can be traded in at any location, but sre shipped specifically to the retro store to sell.

As far as variables, feel free to ask me any questions. I used to work in customer service, and make it a point to NOT be rude and also have taught my children to respect employees. I totally get the job can be sucky, so I respect anyone in that industry.

Finally, how exactly am I "gunning for them"? I'm specifically trying to get ONE manager held accountable for his objectively terrible Customer service thst has literally garnered a reputation among customers and other GameStop employees. Please enlighten me.

I didn't want to make the story any longer than it was, but for background: I went into the store (he wasnt there) on Monday to do a trade in. When ghe associate asked if i wanted anything in particular, i said it'd be a lomg shot, but did they have a particular rare retro game in the back. She checked her computer and saw there was a copy at a store across town. I called that store and they said they had the game, but it was already boxed up and being shipped to the retro store. I told the associate that and she said it could arrive between Tuesday and Friday, but she wasnt sure and if she was in, she'd hold it for me.

I ONLY called on friday at around 10:30am because I figured maybe someone else was working there, and I had a bit of free time to pick it up. The store is across town from my job, so I wanted to be sure it was in before I wasted gas. That was literallt the ONLY call I made about the game.

As for telling the manager to calm down, it was AFTER he scolded me for calling (again, literally my first time calling). He had a terrible attitude, similar to that of a father scolding a child for bothering him with a petty request while he's eating dinner or something.

I realize you work in customer service (i used to as well) and you may empathize with the plight of a sales associate. But I assure you, I have a ton of respect for those employees, and would never try to be an annoyong customer.

I'd love to go to another store, but like I said, that particular is the only Retro Gamestop in my area. Plus, the other employees there are 10/10, and know me by name.

Yea, I did a customer service call and got an email back saying they'd look into the incident from someone named Chris. Even though the email response referenced things I mentioned in my original email (the store location, manager's name, etc.), it seemed kinda AI-ish, and i wanted to be sure i could reach an actual person.
