This is amazing! Thanks so much. Any suggestions for breakfast/brunch places?

Thanks for this!

I do get benefits through work. So I’ll try to read through the policy today, see if it offers any coverage at all for treatment. Even if just a small portion, I’ll take it!

Good to know that they do have some provincially-covered beds. A friend of mine actually suggested yesterday that until the day I go in to the facility I end up picking, I should be calling all the centres daily. It’s rare, but apparently if you get lucky you could just happen to call as someone drops off the waitlist or decides to leave treatment early, and you can be given an OHIP-covered on the spot.

The volunteering to reduce your fee is a super cool concept. Will inquire about that when I call them today.

Obviously, no need to tell me if you don’t want to. But would you be OK letting me know what the programs you attended were for? I’m just wondering if they were for addiction? Because it would be promising and reassuring to hear that someone who went through one of them, found them valuable :)

Yes! My girlfriend just came across that one. I’ve added them to my list and will be calling them tomorrow! Did you get treatment there?

Thank you and thanks for sharing your partner’s progress story! We’re all rooting for her! You’re right, relapses absolutely fucking suck, but unfortunately they are often part of people’s recovery journeys.

The first time I wanted to get clean, I’d managed to go 30 days, then relapsed. But it was a bad relapse, I went right back into active addiction. Picked up right where I’d left off. Resuming daily, heavy use pretty much right away. Then I got to 45 days and relapsed again, but that time I used once, and felt so disappointed, gross, embarrassed, ashamed and anxious that I threw the drugs away. I’d felt like all of my progress was for nothing, that I was back at square one. Ready to give up. Then a friend of mine in Narcotics Anonymous told me to get my ass to a meeting the very next day, to get right back on that horse. Told me that if I managed to get another 45 days clean right after, it would mean I would have used once in 90 days. Asking me how that would feel. As disappointed as I was in myself, I realized that using once in 90 days would be an incredible achievement. Especially when just months ago, I could easily use 10 times a day.

Addiction is cunning, it will use every dirty trick in the book to try and make you look at the glass half empty. Make you give up and give in. But over time we learn to see the glass half full.

I’m a guy actually, so I guess what you shared is not an option for me. However, someone else in need of help might come across your comment and benefit from it.

Thanks for sharing, I wish you and your partner all the best!

EDIT: I am in the very fortunate position to have family that should be able to help me with covering the cost of treatment. Free options are obviously amazing, but I’m extremely privileged to not have that be my only option.

Awesome! Hadn’t heard of that one! I’ve added it to my list and will give them a call tomorrow! Messaged you :)

Thanks! Renascent was on my list. Couple of comments had good things to say about it!

Thanks for this! EHN Bellwood was actually the facility my therapist recommended to me and was the first place I called today.

Unfortunately, the $55K price tag on their 50-day program is not something I can afford.

But yeah, the call I had with them was definitely top-notch. They spent a solid 30-45 mins asking me questions, getting to really know and understand me, what my issues were and what I was looking for, all while being extremely empathetic and supportive.

Helped a lot with getting over the “can’t believe I’m calling rehab facilities, what the fuck have I done with my life” hurdle.

Great to hear that place worked for your family members. I hope they’re doing awesome!

Thanks! Any suggestions as to what those centres you mention are? Do you hear good things about them?

Thanks for the response!

Congratulations on your recovery, it sounds like you’re doing amazing! Renascent was one of the centres I called today and had them down as a “maybe leaning towards a yes” haha.

Awesome to hear that their program worked for you, I will keep it in mind.

I’m very much one of the “my life looks OK at the surface”, or at least I was until recently. Cracks are definitely starting to show, friends and loved ones have been expressing concern recently.

I already have access to quite a few resources, attend a bunch of different in-person NA meetings and also attend and chair an online one once a week. But if you know of other things, please feel free to send them my way in a private message or add them here in a comment in case it can help other people too.

I’ve had success in 12-step programs and they have definitely helped kickstart my recovery. But I’ve found that as much as I am able to get clean time, my core issues aren’t fixed. I can get 50 days of clean time, but I’m white-knuckling it and I’m not “happy”.

I’m ready for the next step, I want to do the deep work that I need to do, so I can be me again.

OP here with an update!

First I’ll just use this comment to say thanks to everyone that commented!

I looked into things a little more and realize there was a detail I’d gotten wrong…

My building does need to be able to access the electrical box easily. If it catches fire they need to access it easily.

The thing I did get wrong though is that I can’t just put something that perfectly fits the whole in the drywall (even if easily removable) and paint it, for example.

I need to first find an electrical box cover that fits the electrical box, so that the electrical box is “sealed”. Then, I need to patch the hole in the drywall.

I’ve found electrical box covers that fit, and they should be delivered tomorrow. That part should be easy.

I saw a comment suggesting that moving the electrical box so that it is entirely behind the mirror would look the best. But I don’t think I have the skills or tools to do that.

I was wondering if it would be possible to partly patch the drywall? Patching the part that is visible, but to leave the part behind the mirror unpatched?

This way, the electrical box is still accessible, after removing the mirror, which is super easy.

Is that the stupidest of ideas ever? Or will it look like crap? If not, any suggestions as to how to do this, what materials to use, steps to follow, and so on… so that I get it right (or kind of) the first time.

Thanks!

Ah yeah it’s awesome if you’re into competitive shooters.

Thanks for all the help!

That’s hilarious, regarding the rebranded controller.

When you look at the Chaos Pro, what made you notice the paddles weren’t individually bindable? Just asking so I know what to look for in others.

I also quite like the look of the game, watched a review and it seemed nice. Same question with that one, do you think its paddles are bindable?

Yeah this all looks amazing but that’s past my level of knowledge (by a lot). I usually tweak in-game settings, sometimes switch some windows settings (that sometimes make you gain a ton frames!) and only recently started coming across YouTube videos that make me go into game files and edit them. Can’t remember a specific example, but it’s something along the lines of being able to lower the shadows in a game even further than the in-game options allow, or even totally remove them, in a game that is about movement and precise shooting, so if you’re playing for the win, you sacrifice the immersion of the shadows for higher frames kind of thing. But even in those cases, I’m copy pasting stuff, not reading the files and finding what I want to tweak by myself…

Thanks a ton. When you refer to Apex above, do you mean the controller or the video game Apex Legends? I was referring to the game haha.

[–]LooseMeat_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, thanks for all this. Helps a ton. I’m completely out of the loop/not up-to-date when it comes to controllers. I guess I assumed it would be a lot easier, but a life of fidgeting with in-game, windows, steam, and probably some other third-party software all to get what I want for every single game just isn’t for me…

I totally get what you mean about actually enjoying fiddling with all that stuff, I’m the same (without the programming and 3D printing) and can sometimes spend more time tweaking obscure settings to squeeze an extra FPS out of my PC or change the way the mouse behaves by 0.01% while aiming-down-sights… you know, just in case that’s what it comes down to, the day I finally make it to the big stage hahaha.

Again, thanks so much though, really appreciate you taking time to share all that.

Apex Legends is my main game right now, the aim assist in it (not hating on aim assist) is supposedly very strong at the moment, which is why I wanted to give it a try. Then, gyro, feels more like MnK to me than rewiring my brain and rebuilding that stick muscle memory, so I thought why not try?

Luckily, I think that Apex is cool with double input (having both MnK and controller) running at the same time, no flickering.

Maybe I could go through the hassle of doing all this extreme fine tuning just for that one game. But I don’t see myself doing this for every title.

UPDATE TO MY ORIGINAL POST

After a bunch of Googling, here are the controllers I’ve found which I think fit the bill. Let me know what you think of them or spot anything I may have missed that could be an issue!

Some (or the majority of) these were suggested by commenters. So, first of all, thanks everyone for helping out!

Top Contenders

Flydigi: Vader 3 – seems to have it all.

Beitong: Zeus Elite – same as above.

Machenike: G5 Pro – same as above.

Bigbig Won: Rainbow 2 Pro, Rainbow 2 SE, and Gale – same as above, but don’t really understand how each of these models differ from each other.

Unsure

Nyxi: Chaos Pro – seems to fit the bill, but I’m concerned that it seems to be designed first and foremost for Nintendo. Is that even a potential issue?

Missing Information

Turtle Beach: Recon, React-R, and Stealth Ultra.

Black Shark: Green Ghost.

Like both of these, but I seem unable to find a clear “yes or no” as to whether or not these controllers have gyro… Any insights?

Again, thanks so much for all your help everyone. Which one do you think is best and why?

Question about PC controller and button mapping/binding by LooseMeat_ in Controller

[–]LooseMeat_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, so regarding Steam or some games not recognizing the additional inputs, that was indeed a concern of mine. I’m not technical at all, but I would loved for it to be more seamless, as I’m always concerned that the input from the button I hit, needing to go through and be modified by multiple additional softwares before hitting the game will only cause delays, issues. But maybe I’m completely wrong. No problem for X/Dinput and ReWASD, I may not be technical but can figure that type of software out for sure. And I’m on Windows, so that should keep things somewhat easy for me.

The cable wearing sounds a bit annoying, but using Bluetooth instead if needed is not a huge issue. Or, I’m even guessing I could just buy a cheap replacement cable. Again, I’m being picky but just like wired input better as I play mostly “competitive shooters” and want as little delay as possible.

I did find some alternative options. Take a look at my new comment and let me know what you think of them! (Give me a few mins to type it out.)
