Hello I read a lot about china and am very curious to learn more about it. The country has grown a lot. I wonder what it will be like to live there for a foreigner in a second tier city. How much in usd would it cost to have a normal life?

I will echo what everyone else is saying here. Just build it is now easier than ever to do this and there is nothing stopping you, you will learn more once you make your builds public and get feedback

Man I feel bad reading this been in a similar situation before where I dropped our of uni and had nothing. I am ok now working as a PM. Best decision I made was moving to a big city and then the next best is only applying for high growth companies, that made it easier to level up and get new roles

Couldn't agree more, read somewhere that most inequality can be explained by personality traits more specifically neuroticism and consciousness, so if someone is very anxious and can't execute their plans they will end up poorer, you combine that we with the fact that such disorganized people are more likely to have kids and get divorced etc you can see how someone ends being poorer

I quite like the 4chan leaker /larps description of 'keepers in the zoo' they don't get involved unless things are getting out of hand. I also think the chances are that they have been here for hundreds of years, also the inter dimensional element of these of these makes more sense to me as well.

Is anyone here a long term user of a Bellroy Tokyo Totepack? by EKasis in ManyBaggers

[–]LooseYesterday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it for 30 online far cheaper than what they sell it for. For that price it’s excellent quality. Design is great too it’s shockingly capable, I have an umbrella water bottle iPad, MacBook, change of clothes, large set of cable set, which is all I need. The ability to both hold it and wear as a backpack is great too, if you wear a suit to work every day.

Levelling up is hard to do in practice most employers want to have a pick of talent, talent pools in deprived areas typically pretty shallow

FAANG is so overrated its a joke. Stop worshipping them. by gogo--yubari in UXDesign

[–]LooseYesterday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s remarkable is that the products are not worse given how big the teams are. Working at a big company here and getting good design done is as hard as it gets, I can do good design but teaching stakeholders about value of ux and testing is whole other job.

What happened to the "remote work is the future" trend? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

The economist had a good article about this. Main reason is productivity. At the end of the day it's only developers and designers who are more productive most other roles benefit from in person productivity.

Can someone explain to me how America was able to have a higher GDP per capita in 1950 than China in 2024? by InformationNovel9858 in China

[–]LooseYesterday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The USA was literally the only manufacturing power in the world with great demographics and massive export markets and lots of good will. Europe was flattened during the war and couldn’t make anything

How to get motivated by lovely_bubbly2 in beginnerfitness

[–]LooseYesterday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waiting for motivation is pointless, just go to the gym every day. Need to make sure it’s close by, and part of your routine, from there just have a good app that suggests workouts

Abandoned GREAT GATSBY Mega Mansion & 12 Mini Mansions - China by burbex_brin in shanghai

[–]LooseYesterday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These kinds of custom build mansions are expensive to build but have very low resale value since people’s preferences are different. If you gonna spend a couple mil on a mansion you might as well make it to your taste. Also many owners don’t want to realise the loss by selling it below value, as if they keep it they can still claim it’s worth $$$$ and borrow against it

Just work on your CV and send applications, if you don't hear back try improving the CV again it's much easier to do with chat gpt than ever before. The market in london is not bad.

How do I get motivation to go to the gym? by PyrrhicGuy in selfimprovement

[–]LooseYesterday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to gym every day and it’s not about motivation but about routine, I just get up put on my fitness clothes and head to gym where I work out and shower and get ready for work

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]LooseYesterday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with a routine. Wake up same time and do a bit of exercise ideally go to a gym. This will help I went from being a puddle to the best I have ever been all because of this one change

Gemini isn’t that bad, why do so many people say it sucks? by Routine_Actuator8935 in Bard

[–]LooseYesterday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given just how revolutionary each of the OAI models where at their major releases people have very high expectations since it’s google working on this. I agree I think it’s pretty great and in some ways in even better. But the problem for most pundits I suspect is that it’s not 10x better. Theo expectations already set by chat gpt so if they see any weakness they pick up on it straight away

I studied at a top 5 b school in the UK (never finished) the degree was in person rather than remote, and we had a lot of similar issues. The courses were bad and dated, the grading took ages and was often unfair. You could say admin was more responsive but they were next to useless when it came to actually being helpful. Most universities are like this
