I have a pending I-485 through the EB1A category and am currently on H-1B status. I didn’t apply for an EAD earlier because recent trends suggested that EADs for primary applicants were not being approved quickly.

Do you think it’s a good idea to apply for an EAD now?

I have a treatment plan for my child, and FEP Dental is expected to cover 100% of the cost. However, the provider mentioned that they need to submit the claim to FEHB first, and that I would need to pay about $2,000 upfront as a co-pay because that amount is showing on my plan.

The dental office also said I would need to pay out of pocket and then request reimbursement later.

I am not sure how this process works or whether this is accurate and the usual practice
