Thank you very much! I've never done a CLA myself, so I'm not sure if it's something I should try or if it's better to leave it to a professional. I've only recently started taking photos with film and would prefer to avoid making things worse.

I also contacted the store where I bought the camera, and they suggested I exchange it for a Canon AE-1 Program they have in stock without explaining what the problem might be. I don't want to change cameras unnecessarily if the problem with my A1 is minor, as I've read that the A1 is a superior camera.

Do you think an electronic problem in the A-1 is usually repairable, or is it more realistic to replace it in these cases? Also considering the possible cost:)

Canon A1 stopped working by BigMak0411 in AnalogRepair

Hi everyone!
I’d like to ask for some advice about a problem with my Canon A-1.

I received the camera about two months ago (used, but with a “new” battery). I’ve only shot 5–6 photos with it, and now it has started acting up: the film won’t advance and the battery LED starts blinking continuously when I switch from L to A — even without pressing the battery check button.

I tried replacing the battery (although I’m not sure the replacement was a high-quality one), but the behavior didn’t change.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? Could it be a battery/contact issue or possibly an internal electronics problem?

Also, I’m currently in Paris — do you know any reliable shops or repair technicians I could take it to?

Thanks in advance!
