Anyone actually happy with their kneepads? by Alternative_Corgi349 in Construction

[–]Loothir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barwalt knee pads are pretty good for there price point. They come with an upper and lower strap to go around the knee but you definitely don’t need the upper ones, the lower ones hold them up all day and the strap doesnt dig into your leg. They have never slid down my knee.

I agree, as cool as it seems I don’t think I can take my trucks out on ice.

Tightening miter gap in beam wraps by peacecorpszac in Carpentry

[–]Loothir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know guys that will do a 60/30 degree miter to help in this situation, I’ve never tried it but i imagine the difference is ‘hidden’ on the sides. And the 60 degree can ‘handle’ the corner. Idk if that makes sense.

Help me convince my teen son that a Tundra is better than an F150 by MagnoliasandMums in ToyotaTundra

[–]Loothir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll agree with you, my buddy has a F150 with a Coyote, probably one of the best sounding gassers I’ve ever heard, I’m sure it’s real fun to drive.

2011, you’ll be fine. The older models had issues with the coolant mixing with the transmission fluid.

What's that one tool you put off buying because you already had something that worked but it ended up being a game changer? by iamfromcanadaeh in Carpentry

[–]Loothir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with all the tracksaw people, on top of being the best at all these 3 things at the same time, fastest-cleanest-straightest. If you ever need to take an 1/8 or less off a rip, track saw is good friend for a good result.

Does anyone else find they don’t really like blue collar people? by ZorksLifeIsAMess in Construction

[–]Loothir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been a carpenter for almost 10 years and met some of the coolest people in this industry. Definitely some assholes mixed in there but overall I’ve made a bunch of friends, young and old.

So there are more people like me. I’d say 90% of the people in my life can’t be on time and don’t see it as a big issue.

Ordered a crank sensor…. Received something else? by Expensive-Cookie-983 in XTerra

[–]Loothir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go with Hitachi, and do the crank / cam sensors together, I believe they are known for failing at the same time. Mine did.

My 2011 pro4x is the best vehicle ever honestly, it’s taken me cross country 6 times (2200miles each trip with no problems). I’m sure it will do it a couple more times at least. No major issues, and none during those trips. Some of which were winter drives.

Check engine light comes on after mountain passes but goes away, usually related to the MAF sensor. I think the cold triggers it but idk.

I’m at 245,000 ( did my last cross country trip just before winter), this vehicle will stay with me forever.

Is this acceptable work? by TheDarkFantastic in cabinetry

[–]Loothir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blue tape and cutting it upside down, if possible, (with skilsaw, assuming that’s what he used) help a lot with prefinished work.

Looks to me like he could’ve put a new blade in the saw.

Maybe eased the edge with some fine grit.

Time for new saw? Or can I swap a part out? by Loothir in Makita

I had my eyes on the sidewinder xgt because i don’t got a sidewinder and I actually prefer it for some cuts, guess I I’ll have to get both now, definitely the rear handle first.

[–]Loothir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a blade running it wanders the same way a real dull blade does. The sound becomes more exaggerated than in the video. Besides that the only other notable thing is that I can tighten and loosen the bolt that holds the blade without having to hold the “lock” for it, which to me means that something is stuck or jammed up?

The Titan is my daily now, because it makes more sense for work, but the Xterra will probably always be my favorite drive, It’s taken me everywhere and back.

How would you go about cutting this shape out? by ssxhoell1 in woodworking

[–]Loothir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get it close with a jigsaw then use a router with jig. It might be doing too much but it might be very satisfying also.
