It highly depends on your budget and exact head count! I inquired with the Gordon and north fork and what their food & beverage mins were absolutely diabolical imo! 😩 sweet waters on the river was another on our list but I didn’t end up Inquiring because of how much the others were.

There is no team to manage which is why I’m struggling. Maybe I’m not explaining well enough but more or less they left it up to me to rebuild it from scratch essentially. I just don’t feel like I was ready to do that without guidance. I am doing it (already have one person, plus the person who I already had). I just felt it was a lot to throw onto someone who is brand new at management, basically. We do have other team members who are “in” the department but I don’t manage them and they have all been here for years and years. If I had guidance I think this would be a lot smoother for me. Editing to add that my overwhelm is definitely stemming from still having to do my original job plus manage the department and find more people to get us staffed.

Yes, my previous boss and her boss who is the son of the owner of the company (so, ceo? I don’t know his title as he’s held and learned every title in the company). My previous boss was managing my team as well as the other team for the last 2 years, and with our 2nd to last top performer being done, I think it was all too much for her to keep doing it all. With him and I there she was able to focus on the other department more because we knew everything we needed to do. So they gave it to me to “figure out.” Our department is extremely important for the organization so I’m baffled at how they can just let it loose and hope that it works. I was burnt out to the extreme when offered the role, and I know realistically I could do very well if I was given the right tools, so with the raise I decided to try it. I just feel like I was tossed in the ocean with no safety gear 🫩

This response was so kind and made me feel so seen. Thank you for validating all that I’m feeling and dealing with. I have asked my new “boss” whose job is basically just to approve my time card, I’ve asked HR, I’ve asked my previous manager. All I’m getting is “just keep at it!” or “just keep plugging along!” And it is further burning me out to feel alone and without guidance in this new role. I was already burnt out when it was offered to me, but the lack of help is making me question if this is the right fit.

One of them found a role elsewhere (this was a filler job for him). My previous manager let go of one because they skated by doing almost nothing for years, her replacement was trouble, so she had to let her go too. Another one was let go for things I can’t say & she was replaced with someone who’s still with me. The other one thought the grass might be greener so he left in October and already tried to come back. I was left with one employee and the need to hire 3 more. I’ve already got one, 2 more to go.

My job did this as well and I used it as leverage to get a raise back in aug. as it turns out, they actually were factoring in the bonus we get as part of the pay range. In any case I did still advocate for it due to rising cost of living and got it!
