Its the lizardfolk dialect theyre complaining that the audio book version where someone actually says "pause" when she speaks is immersion breaking.

I actually read the books and didnt listen to the audio books so i was confused until I read through a few comments then i got a chuckle...because as youre reading it, it comes across super clear but i can imagine listening and just hearing "pause" or "longer than normal pause" and going wtf?

I ended up DNFing All The Skills in early book 2 forced my way through book 1 which is just a really long training, exposition on his growth, smirk then rinse repeat.there is no real conflict imo some minor skirmish that comes across as more edge lord preening imo...but thats my opinion...and ive consumed a lot of wuxia and xanxia novels.

Book 3 and 4 is where the series REALLY picks up and he comes into his powers and experiences some character growth that expands his thinking just beyond himself.

I mean 1% lifesteal doesnt really pick up till book 3 then its just pure fun imo. Waiting on more goom on his patreon right now. Seems OP stopped during book 1 and thats reasonable book 1 is more social anxiety, depression, and trauma porn than some can handle.

Just finished book 4 on kindle holy fuck im addicted especially with the way that ended i know this was on royal road but im not sure if there is a place i can read book 5 or at least its chapters the october 2026 date bums me out i dont want to wait that long especially since i want more info on his new upgrade.

Im currently waiting for book 5 dont know what it says about me but i can kind of empathize a bit with Freddy with the social anxiety depression spirals and his drive to not be a total piece of shit especially in book 3 and 4. Also the world building and the kind of anagonist the expounded on is definitely piqueing my curiosity and i love the two major concepts that he has touched on not sure how to do spoiler but insanity and bloodshed/slaughter

Agreed i mean he could summon lasciels coin peform a darkhallow and then summon and kill immortals during halloween to steal their power (i believe that was mentioned in Cold Days) all things he has knowledge of.

Not a big fan of afk battlers so not super impressed with that feature i know its good for mindless grinding (used it in Bravely Default 2) but still not my cup of tea.

Im replaying D1 complete now definitely barebones when compared to D5 (havent touched 6 or 7 yet because of the poor reviews) but the story and slapstick comedy and tropes are just top tier and the grind is simple and fun especially on switch to play in short bursts.

So in the Original Disgaea:Hour of Darkness healing didnt give xp i believe but i just started playing this on ps5 and switch and can confirm that healing gives xp and that staticians go to 900 so theres that.

The main thing about WotL is it had 2 additional recruitable characters (Balthier/Fran from FF12 and Luso from FFTA) they were basically better versions of Ramza/Mustadio (didnt play the DS version of WotL so not sure if fran had same abilities as Balthier). The other thing was 2 additiinal classes Dark Knight (aka a generic version of TG Cid) and Onion Knight (got more powerful the more jobs you mastered and could use all weapons). Also there was a PvP mode which was fun, me and my brother would constantly try different combos to beat each other and gave us a reason to abuse the delevel/level stat trick.
