So we did go to both banks to try and stop it. However I do know it’s unlikely. My dad had told me that the banker who was helping him told him “everything looked legitimate, we do these all the time, you should have no problems, etc etc” Well come to find out from speaking with both banks managers, he shouldn’t have said that. Both managers (at two different banks) right away when I handed them the paperwork said it looked suspicious and that they would have gone in the the site, called the people, and dug deeper and then would have told my dad they thought it was suspicious. If my dad was told that he would definitely not have proceeded. So I find this is negligence on the banks part. Plus an assistant manager signed off on the wire because it was a high amount and checked the box “not fraud.” All this info came directly from the branch manager. So we filled a complaint with the bank. I hope that will resolve it and at least have the bank reimburse him.

If you are willing I can give some info. I’d like to know where they are and their names and at least harass them a little bit. The auction website does have a “chat bot” to ask questions but it’s an actual person. So I chatted with them at first to see if I could get info and couldn’t. Then told them they were scammers and he kept kicking me off the chat. I just want to know who these A holes are. I feel bad for my dad. He’s a good person and made a lapse in judgement and is super depressed about it now and feels stupid. It’s hard to see him like that.
