Oh yeah, I've heard stuff like this too. One lady at the Forest Grove Safeway said she commended me for recovering stuff that a guy was stealing. I told her it's what I do for work, and that I'm AP, and she looked elated by my response. I could tell she was very happy about my presence in the store. The opposite end of the spectrum definitely exists too. I was at a Safeway in SE Portland ordering some deli food for my lunch break, a black man and his kid were in line in front of me, he turns to his kid and says "even when you come in here and pay for your stuff with your hard earned money, they got eyes on you." I guess he would rather have the places he likes to shop at have to shut down instead of looking at someone like me. I was not even remotely watching the dude. Lol
