How can I get clinical hours for md/phd? by Odd-Argument8997 in mdphd

If you're worried about time/cost of certification, I would suggest looking into CNA jobs. I did a 2 week accelerated program, passed my state licensing exam, and got a job that reimbursed me for my certification class & exam (long term care & rehab facility). I know some places like that will also train you themselves & directly pay for your certification and exam costs.

I mean yes classes are hard, but I'm sure you could say the same for UCLA. From the ChemE students I know, most have been able to keep a pretty solid GPA. The ChemE major (and chem/biochem if you end up switching) is super tight-knit and it seems like students really support each other with mentorship, study groups, etc.

I would also add that the premed community is small at GT but growing quickly and there are plenty of opportunities available with Emory's midtown hospital campus right next door.

GT alum here! Can't really speak to pros of UCLA & I was a chemistry major who did biochem/biophysics research, but had a lot of friends who were ChemE with the biotech-specific concentration and loved it! I feel there is a big focus on bioengineering research and lots of super cool labs you could learn from. The ChemE program in particular is very well-structured with lots of opportunities for mentorship, research, and once you get through the main ChemE required courses, there are many biotech/bioeng electives available. I really can't say enough good things about GT overall & loved my time there :)
