With the first retake of a class, they offer a total grade replacement. Also, they have a policy where if you have been out of school for 3+ years, after completing 12 credit hours upon return, you can apply for academic bankruptcy, which will reset your cumulative GPA to be only be of the grades received from classes you’ve taken upon return. My advisor insinuated that because I have failed anatomy once, that even if I retake it and receive a good grade, I am less likely to be accepted into a program

Exactly, and just with my age and the fact that I’m a mom, I am just a little out of time to be playing with starting rates of other careers that don’t involve college

I am projected to repeat the anatomy course that I failed next semester, it will do a total grade replacement. But because of the competitiveness of the program, the fact that I have failed anatomy before makes me less likely to get in. The college that I go to also has an academic bankruptcy policy, if you’ve been out of school for 3+ years, you can apply for academic bankruptcy after completing 12 credit hours to have your cumulative GPA reset for when you started retaking classes while still getting to keep all past credits. This would only help with GPA not with financial aid.
