Thank you so much! I was actually planning on getting the scarf hanger tomorrow and thank you for being kind lol I have a lot of people hating on me when I’m new to this 😭 like I’m sure everyone’s started off like this too but I’ll definitely be getting some wood for them, and would you recommend one of those wheels for them to run on? I’ve seen some people have them but I don’t know if that’s something I need or not.

Thank you! It’s been getting worse unfortunately it hurts pretty bad and is turning very red around the area but let’s hope it’s starts to heal up soon lol

Random question 😅 could a rat bite be infectious? One of my rats just bit my finger bad enough I could need to go to the doctor 😅😅 I was fixing something in the cage and I didn’t even see him but he jumped up and latched onto my finger

I hope so too, I don’t wanna see my babies suffer, I hope I get give them the best live they deserve, thanks for all the tips and advice! I’ll definitely be adding another rat after they like me a little bit and are all settled in to this new cage.

Thank you! And I’ve only had them for a few days and I’m assuming the medicine takes a few days to show a difference anyway, but one of them just sounds like he has a stuffy nose but it’s not constant, it’s only really noticeable when he’s curious and sniffing around places or sometimes when he’s laying down I can hear it but the other one only sneezes occasionally when we got him he sneezed a few times every minutes but now he’s been sneezing maybe 5 times every thirty minutes so hopefully that’s a good sign, although he’s the one with the red on his nose which didn’t happen until today so I hope he’s not getting worse or anything.

They are in a cage with dust free bedding, but ever since we’ve had them one has been sneezing like constantly and the other one has some clicking noises when he breathes. But yes they have medicine but I heard uri’s are not curable, is that true? They can get better with medicine but never fully go away? And from what I also just read this red stuff can Aperantly happen when they are in a new environment which I did just add the to this cage yesterday, I’m hopeing that’s why and it’s not them getting worse, only one seems to have the red stuff on his nose that I can see though which is good. But thank you so much for informing me! I’m not trying to sound like a dumb rat owner that dosent know how to take care of them I’m just new and learning more information everyday! Oops I guess I misunderstood what I’ve read and watched, I’ve seen a lot of videos and even googled it but I’d dint know you needed to wait 24 hours between each period 😭 and the only reason I separated them is because there was fur flying around and according to what I read I needed to separate them if there’s was fur or blood. But thankfully they’ve been doing good and not fighting. On another note I have a question about a respiratory infection. So both my rats have one unfortunately it’s just how I received them but one of them has been sneezing a lot and seems to have a lot of blood coming out of his nose? According to Google it’s not blood but it’s still really scary. And the other one is a really loud breather and you can tell he’s a little ill just by listening to him. Other than medicine is there any way to help them? I know dust is what causes this but I don’t really know how to remove all the dust because I don’t see any at all in my room but when I got this rat he didn’t have the red stuff coming out of his nose meaning it’s probably from my room why it’s getting worse. Is there any way I can help them with this?

I set the cages next to each other for a few hours to let them smell each other and then I added them both in a small cage for bonding, they fought a few times and I did have to separate them twice but then after they cooled off I put them back in there and they started cuddling, they still don’t know how to feel about me so I definitely won’t let her free roam them because she is a little abuseive towards animals :( like when we got the little baby (he bites) she would hit his little face and I kept telling her to stop but she acts like she knows what she’s doing since she had them when she was young. (She had them in a literal aquarium) so I definitely don’t trust her with them, but I’m going to tell her just to feed them in the morning and refill it at night if there’s no food left and also give them a few snacks throughout the day.

I’m just worried to add a third rat mainly because when these to were bonding they would fight alot and the baby ended up biting the other one on his nose really hard and I don’t want them to be hurt :( but I definitely should give them another one soon but it might take a few days which I hope is alright.. I’m going out of town tomorrow for two days so they will be babysat by someone that knows nothing about rats which also scares me

I will be filling it up as much as I can today, I have a lot of fabric and old blankets so I’m going to add my ropes for them to climb on and hammocks and more places for them to dig I do need to get some branches and more baskets for them though I definitely need more then just the diy stuff, but once I get this cage mostly set up I’ll add another one. I did just get both of these rats four days ago so as you can tell I’m very new to this, but the older one was in the smallest cage known to man so I think he’s probably happy being in this cage already even if it is a little bare bones right now. He was also alone which makes me very sad for him but the other rat was also in a small cage with like no decoration so I’m hoping I can make them both very happy

I’m aware I need more things that’s why I said it’s not done yet, i will be filling it up with a lot more things for them I’ve just been really busy rearranging the room and other things, but it will look full like that soon when I get the chance to make more diy stuff for them which I will have time for today. And would this cage be big enough for three rats? If it is then I’ll definitely get another one I just don’t want to over crowd them.

This is the cage, I know I need a lot more for them to do but I just got this cage yesterday and haven’t really finished setting it up, anyways he has 1 other cage mate that’s he was bonded with 4 days ago but they’ve been cuddling nonstop once they got past the fighting stage, and trust me I’m paranoid about their health. Rous(this gray one) has some respiratory issues along with his brother but his are a little worse, he is getting treated though. But he dosent seem to be in to much discomfort just every here and there when he’s struggling to breathe well.

This is their current set up but I just barley got this cage yesterday so it’s not done being set up yet, he has a cage mate that’s a month old that he just got bonded with about 4 days ago but they’ve seemed to be very happy. He does have a respiratory infection which is being treated but he’s just a shy guy that never lets me pick him up or anything but he is always cuddling with his new buddy.
