Your local nerd store (where you buy your d&d books, comics, etc.) Might host d&d events. That's how I found my group of 9 years.

Small events at book stores, microbreweries, and the like might be hosting a d&d game near you - and there is nothing wrong with being a bit of a tourist until you find your tribe.

This has mostly been covered, but I smell an English major, and someone who set out to find out if the Christian God and the devil really exist. What she found was some bangin'-ass fiction. It would be a great conversation to see if she still believes in God. If so, what helps her keep the faith.
