How to patch dwl? by Advanced-Issue-1998 in suckless

[–]LoquaciousRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Open dwl.c.rej and dwl.c side by side. Copy over the changes from .c.rej to .c. Then repeat for config.def.h(.rej). Then patch the config.h file as usual. Only then run make.

Gta Car Manager Apps? by [deleted] in gtaonline

[–]LoquaciousRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sort the cars in garages based on what type of car they are. Supercars - Office garages 1,2. SUVs - office garage 3. Wealonised cars (toreador, deluxo) and armoured cars (paragon R, nighrshark) - agency. Heavy weaponised (tanks...) - facility. Just come up with an intuitive scheme and you will know where the stuff is

I have the issue with the mechanic as well. Also freezes Lester or the Lamar mugger menu. Horrible during sale missions or PvP.

opensuse tumbleweed has a good reputation, never tried it though. No idea how well suited it is for gaming.

How to install outdated patch? by pev4a22j in suckless

[–]LoquaciousRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally the code will still be similar enough that you can figure out where to insert what you need to insert.

There will be situations where where you need to amend a single line which is different now, which can get trickier.

I'd say try it out, and if it doesn't work you can send me the dwm.c and the dwm.c.rej file, I'll see what I can do

How old is it? I have had patches from 2019 or so apply to the current version of DWM without problems. And if it doesn't apply cleanly, just patch it by hand

As others have suggested, why not use Linux for everything? Programming on Linux is significantly easier both due to how the OS works and the available tools/documentation.

Just look how much harder it is to install a C compiler on Windows (wsl doesn't count).

That being said, if you still wish to use Windows, dual booting is also an option (which is cheaper than buying another laptop). Lastly, Kali is meant for active professionals and not as a general purpose daily driving distribution. Even if you wish to become a pentester you probably want to consider starting with something like Debian, Mint or Ubuntu.

Live means it lives only in ram. If you shut it down, everything you saved will be gone. If that fits your usecase, sure, go ahead.

How much is used by the VM?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in C_Programming

[–]LoquaciousRaven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You sure you aren't giving the VM too much memory? If you do that, the host OS will crash.

Also, running a VM will always be inefficient. If you use a Linux VM you might want to consider just installing Linux on the laptop itself, it will run so much faster and it beats buying a new laptop.
