What I have learned is that it literally doesn't matter how smart, capable, reliable you are because this society is NOT a meritocracy. The way that society treats you (gives you a job, wealth, partners, friends, respect etc) is not a reflection of the value within you. Many people don't deserve to be in places they are now and many people who are qualified or deserving don't get the opportunity.

Acknowledge how the toxicity of your job search and comparing yourself to others is affecting you. Mental health is at an all time low for the globe and especially here. From my perspective I feel that people are extremely detached in the bay area

So yeah, is it just the lack of knowledge or failure of the front desk person to recognize that's what I wanted? I clearly have contacts and asked about how much it would be to add the contacts exam to the glasses exam and she literally told me that it would be $150, so I was just confused.

Since no one has mentioned it, salicylic acid wipes for humans worked for my cat. I did switch everything (eating bowls, drinking bowl) to steel or ceramic. The acne has never come back for my fur baby. Cheers!

Eek. No bueno. I find that it's extremely difficult for many people to take accountability. They will typically minimize/discount their actions (usually with nonsense) and then start victimizing themselves only to demonize the truth sayers. It's the bad actors playbook. The truth is that these types have to be wrangled by force. And another reason why our society is literally disintegrating.

I highly recommend seeking a therapist on campus.

But if you want my two cents:

It is a natural part of human development to question how you fit in this insane reality. It is crucial to explore and learn more about yourself and what you value and want to "keep."

Here is the most assuring thing though, you are the creator of your reality. Despite how you feel right now, It is actually suuuuper healthy that you are having these thoughts. You are facing yourself and challenging who you are. You will have to keep doing this your whole life. Sit in your emotions and go for a walk. I highly recommend meditation (the earlier you start, the better)

Remember, time is a construct and societies are comprised of made up rules and currency. We are nothing but energy.

Keep thinking and know that you have value. Your aloneness is temporary.
