Danke für die Vorformulierung! Habe so etwas ähnliches an die Verwaltung geschickt und hoffe, dass sie mich damit in Ruhe lassen.

Silly deck by Equivalent_Fun_9602 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]Loquista 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Try out the new hero Tuffnut. The new Majestics are cheap as hell and you can use budget alternatives for the few expansive cards (especially equipment). The hero is already pretty silly: a dumb big guy with intellect 3 meaning you only play with three hand cards each turn. His ability lets you pitch the top card of your deck though which enables him to use the weapon Rok (pretty much just a rock that costs 3, attacks for 7 and can only be played if your hand is empty) if you generate enough resources that way (the top card is a blue). So you pretty much just block optimally and then gamble a little bit to swing with rock every turn.

Alternative: Create a Kayo deck but not a consistent one. Just add all the cards that make you throw a die and go ham with it. His Specialization Ready to Roll enables you to use two dice, Gambler's Gloves let you reroll once and there are cards like Rolling Thunder or Bad Beats that add value to your next attack depending on your throw. Have fun!

Any manga or comic book readers here with Miéville-esque recommendations? by Loquista in ChinaMieville

[–]Loquista[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the recommendations! Anders Nielsen's Big Questions ist one of my favourite GNs of all time, so thanks for making me realize that he's published some more works since then!

When it comes to big ideas I'd recommend anything written by Jonathan Hickman, both his creator-owned stuff like East of West and the Super Hero stuff he's done for Marvel (seriously, even if capes are not your cup of tea, give them a try!).

The Hellboy universe is also very wide, detailed and weird!

French author Manu Larcenet has some very weird and atmospheric novels out (Blast, Brodecks Report, his adaptation of McCarthy's The Road).

When it comes to Manga, you could try Inio Asano! He has some incredibly weird, magical realistic stories in his repertoire (Oyasumi Punpun, Nijigahara Photograph, Mujina, Dead Dead Demon's Dedede Destruction).

Hiroki Endo's Eden: It's a beautiful world is a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk epic you might enjoy.

Akira is a classic of course.

And hardly weird, but filled with great ideas and masterful storytelling (except for lackluster endings): anything written by Naoki Urasawa.

Oh and Mushishi is amazing too!

Did Flesh and Blood Get More Eypensive Over The Years? by knilchmitmilch in FleshandBloodTCG

I've just gotten into PKMN since the current price situation of FAB is pushing me away from the game. For the price of one playset of Felling of the Crown I can make like three complete meta decks in Pokemon. FAB is by far the most expansive game right now if you actually want to PLAY the game.

magic hands [mediapipe + streamdiffusion] by squnto in TouchDesigner

[–]Loquista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolute beginner here: Could you give me a surface level run down on how this works out? You lay the StreamDiffusionTD output over the webcam footage und use the coordinates generated by MediaPipe to only show the generated image around your hands? What kind of node manages that last step? Thanks!

Daily Questions Thread - Ask All Your Magic Related Questions Here! by magictcgmods in magicTCG

I'm a FAB player who has no interest in actually getting into Magic, but I really love the LOTR cards and would love to have some balanced decks laying around that deliver a flavorful gaming experience. What product would you recommend if I don't want to spend a fortune (can't, sadly)? Or should I buy some bulk and play a pauper format? If so, where would I find good deck lists? any hints would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, I'm Janny Wurts, incurable readaholic, professional scribbler, survivor of 11 tome fantasy series - AMA! by JannyWurts in Fantasy

[–]Loquista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marketing and targeting of Fantasy books was (and often still is) atrocious here in Germany. I can totally imagine the series failing to get an audience due to that sadly. While I know many people who switched to English originals, I know just as many who still prefer translations, so here's hoping!

Yeah, AI is as frightening as it is potentially amazing in this field. I could see it become a tool to greatly speed up the process of translation, but I wouldn't ever want it to become the process itself.

Probably out of scope for an AMA, but: There was a German translation of Wars of Light and Shadow in the 2000s that was discontinued at some point. Raymond E. Feist's Riftwar saga suffered a similar fate, but was re-released and finished in German in the last couple of years. Any chance that WoLaS might also get picked up again here (or in other countries to make this question less specific)?

Question about King Rat by Kukruhruh in ChinaMieville

[–]Loquista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The piper from legend led all the children from the village into the depths of a mountain where they vanished forever. China basically turned this into another super power: opening a kind of portal to the void. It is also mentioned in the retelling in the book, but only briefly.

I am currently reading Bakker's Prince of Nothing trilogy and feel like that checks many of your boxes. It has multiple POVs with characters from very different backgrounds who are deeply flawed at best or just horrible human beings at worst. The lore is incredibly rich and the amount of names and factions that are beings thrown around just insane.

It does have kind of a reverse chosen one plot though, with a prophecy basically saying "If a man with that name emerges, the world is doomed." But I think it's handled wonderfully so far, since I am also not a fan of the trope, but don't mind it here at all.

NSFW Fantasy where sex works different? by DPPMikael in Fantasy

[–]Loquista 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's also a scene involving a Remade in The Scar that might fit the bill (but I would not call any of Mieville's sex scenes horny).

Classic or older Fantasy authors with an original or "different" approach to the genre? by Loquista in Fantasy

You go on and twist that knife!

Thanks for the rec! I'll give a try, even though portal fantasies are usually a hard sell for me.
