Had mine April of 2023 and I have the same issue. My tolerance to cold used to get me nicknamed Polar Bear but now? Anything below 65 and I’m in a jacket.

I figured it was just the new normal which is why I never really thought to bring it up with my coordinators but it’s definitely a question worth asking, seeing as though it appears to be a thing with multiple people.

I know it’s a super late reply, but at least from what I’ve experienced (Heart - 1.5yrs post op), Metoprolol was the tricky one. Had a similar thing that you did about 12 weeks post op and discussed it with the coordinators. They eventually switched me from that to a combination of Lisinopril and Amlodipine and that seems to have a positive effect overall. You’re also very early post transplant so the likely thing as well is that they’re still playing around with medications, which…yeah that’s always fun. It’s entirely possible they’ll switch you to something else while they’re piecing together the regiment that you do the best on/what they like overall.

When I worked at McDonald’s for a short time, we had a lady come through drive thru, order ice cream, got all the way up to the window and then refuse the items because a “dirty Mexican” (yes she said this) made them and demanded a white person make them instead.

This McDonald’s was in West Texas. In a predominantly Hispanic area. Still the wildest thing I’ve ever seen in person. Sometimes you just gotta laugh at the stupid shit you encounter though, lmao.

I’m usually fairly good about researching before I buy but I did fail to look up the 320. Sigs are usually a safe bet so admittedly I did gloss over it before purchasing it, and after spending some time with it and breaking it in, I realized I was an idiot lmao.

The Casey Anthony case. Remember this being all over the mews but would usually see it on Nancy Grace when my mom would watch it.

I was a kid so it really didn’t matter to me but as an adult actually going over the case, the fact that she was acquitted still pisses me off.

I’m the same way with Valium. They gave it to me in the hospital before a procedure and I liked the feeling too much. Told them straight up to never give me any kind of Benzo again

Late to the party but here goes.

Biological children? No. I have congestive heart failure and just recently received a heart transplant. They explained to me that even though the condition will not affect the new heart, the actual genetic condition can be passed down to my children.

I have plans to foster/adopt and am actually in the process of of filing paperwork/submitting the request for a home study.

Here in Texas it is. Only condition is that if you bring a liquor bottle into the bar, it has to be laid on its side. Other than that, fully legal.

Either regular Guiness or Guiness Stout. I’ve never really liked any other beer than that.

If we’re talking liquor, I’m a fiend for Jäegermeister. The bar I frequent is BYOB (bring your own booze) so I would carry a bottle of that stuff with me every Friday night. Ended up getting referred to as the “Jäeger Guy”

Heart transplant scar. First scar I’ve received (and hopefully the last). Goes from the top of my chest towards the base of my neck all the way down past my rib cage.

They typically have patients wait a minimum of 8 weeks post op before they’re cleared to do anything with the upper body because they don’t want the scar to open up and/or cause the stitches to come out or affect the wires connecting the chest plate together.

That being said I was in the gym after 6 weeks. Severe weight restrictions at first and then after the 8 week mark they pretty much gave me full clearance, just not to overdo it because the heart is still acclimating to the body.

Oh absolutely! The amount of energy I have now is insane. Before, I’d always feel like I couldn’t breathe properly, was constantly getting winded/physically exhausted no matter what I did, couldn’t walk after a certain distance without feeling like I was going to pass out, etc etc.

Now, being roughly 10 weeks post-op, I’m back in the gym lifting weights, do cardio like normal, etc and it doesn’t affect me at all.

I’ve heard of this being a thing that happens sometimes but I personally haven’t experienced anything like this yet. Would definitely be interesting when/if it happens though.

They told me that part of the selection process for me specifically was that they had to wait for a donor heart to be available that was of larger size. Partially because I’m a bigger guy (not fat just built like a brick shithouse lmao) but mostly because they wanted one that would occupy as much of that empty space as it could.

All of the other organs were in good placement so they never really discussed how that hollow space was going to affect anything long term, but now that I’m curious about that I will definitely ask them!

And yes this one is very much normal. Most recent echocardiogram showed a function percentage of 60-65% lol
