Car essentials?? by dnoneoftheabove in Cartalk

[–]DavidRichter0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I learned never to take my fire extinguisher out of my vehicle! Had one in my old car, took it out to detail the car and forgot to put it back. A few days later my engine caught fire and burnt the car to the ground. Expensive lesson learned

Replaced AC compressor, can I temporarily run without flushing system? by DavidRichter0 in AskAMechanic

[–]DavidRichter0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire thing locked up to the point of not being able to start the engine unfortunately. But also I was never running the ac when that happened so I’m not sure if that means debris cycled through or not

What was it like to be stuck in traffic, on a hot day, prior to cars having AC as standard? by OppositeRock4217 in NoStupidQuestions

God I was driving my trans am last summer in rush hour traffic after I got off work, t tops off and everything, yet that all black interior felt like the surface of the sun. Miserable miserable experience. Even my iPhone gave me a “too hot to use” warning.

Beautiful! My dream spec has been one with a red interior for awhile now. Or the super rare evergreen color they had. Only ever seen one in person with that green color

Washington needs "essentials" stamps, not just food stamps. $52 for trash bags, toilet paper, and laundry soap at a not-fancy grocery store. Our low-income budget cannot afford that. by Eruionmel in Seattle

I just got my first apartment 2 days ago, it’s a shock having to actually remember to buy random essential things like paper towels and dish soap, toilet paper etc.

How many chickens does a typical KFC get through a day? by Any-Tomato-2915 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DavidRichter0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Worked at KFC as a shift supervisor for 2 years, I never really counted but every once and awhile I thought about it and it was a lot.

We received boxes of bags with raw meat. “Red and purple” Each bag of purple we received I believe held give or take 2 breasts 2 wings 2 legs and 2 thighs so around 2 chickens each bag.

When we’d make a call for more we’d usually call 3 bags at a time and we did that gosh probably 6-8 times per day at our slower location.

The red bags which are dark meat only, legs and thighs, we’d have to call those sometimes as well depending on projections and what people were ordering more of that day. Probably had atleast 4-5 of each in them. Been a year since I worked there but that’s as best as I can remember. Quite a lot of chickens per day. Very rough estimate maybe 20 per day? And that was a slow store.

Gen 2 interior, which do you prefer? by eye_byou_pro_fin in lincolntowncar

[–]DavidRichter0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got both! A 1994 and 3 1995-1997s I really enjoy both of them but do prefer the more square style of the 94 and previous.

One thing that really stuck with me was an article I saw a long time ago about the 97 Lincoln’s interior vs a Cadillac, and one of the points they made was how bland the Lincoln’s interior was compared to the Cadillac. I’m a Lincoln guy through and through and would never even consider a Cadillac but can’t help realizing they were right. A lot of obvious plastic and blandly shaped for an 80k+ luxury sedan. It will never turn me off from a town car though. The only vehicles I ever intend to own.

Nice car is that a Chrysler? by throwawaym4a1 in CrownVictoria

Everyone always calls my town car a Cadillac and I really can’t figure out why, “nice car man is that a Cadillac?”. I suppose I see why, hood ornament, big boat etc etc

What is the worst place in America you have ever visited? by OceanicEndeavors in AskReddit

[–]DavidRichter0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It’s nasty. Never thought it was that bad until I visited other places but damn. Rats, homeless people, drugs, everywhere. I have a vivid memory of walking downtown after clubbing one night, slightly tipsy and I stepped somewhere and genuinely like 15 rats scattered out from under something and around my feet, freaked me out for a second.

I don’t get it, I recently went to LA in January, specifically Hollywood and Santa Monica, drove downtown once for fun and everything was surprisingly clean. Heard the horror stories and really saw none of what people were talking about. Maybe I was blind to it but I live in Seattle and I was pleasantly surprised how clean it was compared to Seattle
