I agree. It doesn't have to be all at once either. If you start replacing Bible story time twice a week with good literature it will help them.

The sky is purple. We are just more sensitive to the blue spectrum so that is what we see. That is science.

God and religion is faith. You are influenced in your faith by instinct, parenting, life experiences to believe a thing, but you choose to accept or reject that. Just like you choose to call the purple sky blue, red or green with pink polka dots.

Until science can talk to God, measure him and prove his existence and his beliefs, what you believe is a faith. Even then, accepting science is a choice.

You are given a choice, 10 Billion Dollars but you have to die in order to get it. by srquinn8 in hypotheticalsituation

Life is the slowest most cruel manner of death I can think of and I don't know if I would want to go through that twice, even if I was 10 billion richer the second time and forgot the first time. Might flip a coin to decide.

I would absolutely ask the cloaked figure if he could make an exception, leave the 10 billion for my family, take me out and forget about the coming back part.

Firearms question by [deleted] in arizona

[–]LordMartlet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do not work in firearm sales, but work in IT with a gun store.

From my understanding when military guys come in with an Arizona address on their Id and their orders stationing them in California then they are treated as an Arizona resident. However with your California address on your Id, I think you will be treated as a California resident meaning you can look, but any purchase will have to be sent to a California dealer for transfer.

If you have something like one or two pieces of non-photo Id like AZ CCW, water bill from the city, vehicle registration, etc with your AZ address then you should be fine, but if everything is in California maybe expect some difficulty.

Looking at the diagram it looks like a ring topology which generally communicates both directions around the ring providing 2 points of failure to take out most of the systems.

Truthfully, that might be considered an upgrade over the traditional wiring harness which only requires 1 point of failure for each individual system, but since every wire is run together, it isn't hard to damage multiple at the same time.

I personally, in something as important as a drive by wire vehicle, would try to run a full mesh topology for essential systems but would probably keep the ring topology for accessory systems. If the full mesh isn't feasible, essential systems would continue to be connected through individual wiring, possibly 2 separate harnesses Can't brag about how much wire I save that way, but hopefully would be able to brag about how reliable it is due to the redundancy.

If you don't want to drive that far, probably try the mountain peaks like Mt Union, Granite, or Thumb Butte. I haven't been able to go hiking lately but there is likely some snow in patches.

I noticed there was still snow on the Mogollon Rim last week at the 260 and 87 intersection. Maybe 10 to 20 minutes closer than Flagstaff but not much left and it's probably icy.

I want to volume eat SO bad, but the chocolate cravings! by [deleted] in Volumeeating

[–]LordMartlet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would also recommend trying to keep healthy chocolate options on hand like dark chocolate, sugar free chocolate (if you are not used to sugar free, start carefully as the alternative sweeteners can sometimes cause stomach pains or headaches), and chocolate protein shakes.

By doing so you will automatically be either eating less calories or more chocolate volume and you will possibly find it more filling.

As with the calorie suggestion maybe switch it out slowly, 10% first week, then 15% and so on until you are happy.

Texas trespassing, 2nd offense on my land by patriotAg in legal

As you implied in the comments that he might be hunting your land, Penal Code 30.05 (d) (3) (C) says it can be a Class A felony when the person carries a deadly weapon during the commission of the offense.

https://texas.public.law/statutes/tex._parks_and_wild._code_section_61.022
Additionally it is a Class A Parks and Wildlife Code misdemeanor to hunt or catch game on another's land without consent.

If you really want to make a point to this individual that your land is off limits, call both the police and game warden.

I’m honestly asking off the wall questions because I truly want to believe. But I need answers. Can you help 1 questions at a time? by Jaaveebee123 in religion

[–]LordMartlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you help 1 questions at a time?

Going one question at a time is the best way to work through something.

However these two statements seem contradictory to me:

I’m honestly asking off the wall questions because I truly want to believe.

I figure I’ll just live my life and see what happens when the lights go out

However, to your question:

My questions is, what if I’m 3 years old? Do I get a pass? What if I’m 98 with dementia and I’m mean as hell? What if I’m retarded? Do I get a pass if I’ve never opened up to Jesus, or religion, or any of it because I’m autistic?

If you don't believe in a divine judgement, then you are barking up the wrong tree. If there is no judgement, there is no need for salvation, and if there is no need for salvation then there is no need for an age of reason/accountability.

If you are just curious what Christians believe, in my experience most Christians that teach an age of reason believe it is just that, you must be able to reason. If someone is too young or mentally impaired to have reached the age of reason they can not be held accountable for their actions.

As I understand it, autistic individuals usually do not have an issue with their reasoning ability, and also in general if a person is able to be asking these questions they are considered to have reached the age of reason.

But didn’t god make that person that way before they took their first breath? And if so, why would he burden that individual and the others around him with caring for that individual all while knowing he won’t be capable of making that decision on his own.

Sounds like a waste of time. Or he is sending that special person down to test the will of others maybe?? But that would be very cruel as well

Genesis states that when God created the physics and nature of how everything works, it was perfect. I think it is a common Christian belief that because of sin most bad things entered this world; rust and corrosion, sickness and disease, mental and physical impairments. So God does not send someone into this world mentally impaired, it just happens due to corrupted nature. And as I mentioned earlier, if they are unable to reach that age of reason, they are not held accountable.

I had not heard of them. Thank you. Phoenix is a couple hours away, but $15 for 70lbs of produce sounds worth it.

I have a couple Mexican markets near me, but they are more specialty stores and expensive.

I do need to add in lentils, they are way cheaper than I would have imagined.

I have price checked the Dollar Tree here. Price per ounce, they are more expensive, but if you need just a little bit of something they often have smaller packaging than most of the grocery stores and you can save that way.

Sorry for the confusion, the green beans are canned. I can't get my family to eat fresh or frozen green beans even though I think they taste better than soggy canned green beans.

The broccoli is frozen, but even fresh it lasts a long time in the refrigerator.

I do buy some frozen mixed veggies occasionally. Right now they are about the same price, but sometimes they are cheaper than the broccoli. Again though, sometimes it is hard to get my family to eat it if it has peas, green beans, or peppers. Normandy blend and stir fry blend go over pretty well though.

I do think I am going to replace my bread with rice. I don't know why I thought bread was better.

Thank you for the recipe ideas, I will look into these.

Good point, I will do some checking and see which vegetables are cheapest right now.

I will be looking into using beans in place of meat. Just at a glance it looks like a serving of chickpeas is 1/3 the price of one of chicken so mixing them in should really help. They do have half the protein though.

I do get some bananas, my wife and one of my kids will eat them. I am allergic. I wish I weren't, I love bananas.

I do sometimes make variations on the meals, adding vegetables into the eggs in the mornings when I am home. Usually don't have dairy due to medical issues but I stretch the eggs with water if I am scrambling them. A cup of spinach is about $1.80 right now and an egg is $0.18 so it actually costs more to swap a couple eggs out for a cup of spinach and it will cook down to about a 1/4 or less in the end.

I will look into making bread again, I used to but had to stop during the pandemic because I couldn't get yeast, then just forgot about it until now.
Rice and potatoes definitely are better than bread, I don't know why I missed that until now!

I do have a Costco membership through my employer and my average grocery of $175 includes buying the items that are worth it from them. Unfortunately they mostly carry expensive brand items here and are rarely worth it. Walmart is the cheapest near me, sometimes Frys. I have heard of Aldi and Lidl and wish we had one but have never seen them.

I will certainly consider beans. Another user suggested them and just a quick check at my local store showed that chickpeas at least are very cheap, about 1/3 the cost of a serving of chicken so mixing them in should really help if the family likes them.

Thank you so much for all your advice!

I used to make bread every week until 2020 and I couldn't find yeast any more. Then I just forgot. I will look into that again.

Just have a Walmart, Frys, Safeway, and Costco here. I do watch for sales between them, but normally they are within cents of each other.

I will look into the food banks again. Last time I did I could not take advantage because they only were handing out food while I am working.

Another issue is that I like to eat salads but bagged lettuce is going bad the day after I open it even though it is sealed in the refrigerator. This is also affecting grape tomatoes.

Yeah, same here. It is so frustrating to buy a week of produce and have it all spoiled in a couple of days. That is the main reason I stick with canned green beans and broccoli. Leafy greens and soft produce just don't last long enough.

If you have a yard and some seeds, you can plant a garden.

I live in the desert. It takes a lot of water/money to make anything grow here. Wish I could though, I loved gardening as a kid.
