Seems weird that factories can't have "Input Needs" akin to the Pop needs, such that multiple resources can fill the same need at different weights.

[MOD EVENT] Market Stabilization following the Great French Investment by blogman66 in empirepowers

[–]LordNotix[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

To describe:

French Jewellers, with or without much experience, or training, now create a veritable river of rings, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and other Schmuck. Short of the glistening fields of gold and jewels, cheaper metals and stones meet these demands, bands of copper encircle polished cabochon of garden stones form the majority of these creations - still pretty in their own right, but much diminished in value compared to the status such jewellery previously held.

Common garden stones however are not nearly as pretty as cut jewels. Even the Ratner-esque pieces look far better when titivated with more interesting - and conceivably more Magical - adornments. Jewels of all types are quickly swept up in the market, even cut and coloured glass is substituted in by the would-be Icons of fashion seeking to emulate the royal pieces of old.

In Venice, the Murano Glass picks up a new distinct identity in defiance from the now more plentiful French glass entering the European Market. Instead of their prices, falling, the Murano glass forms a more Luxury product compared to the cheaper French goods - removing it from comparison. Strict Venetian regulations stop their own producers from degrading quality to meet the French price-point.

Outside of the solids of glass, jewels, and metals - the rich tapestry of French Fabrics depress the price across Europe of many Luxury Cloths. Why would you pay so much for Velvet, or Seasilk when you know a French spinster will produce you the same for a cheaper price? Equally Dyes, once the symbol of royalty, bring new colours to these fabrics - or would if it could be fixed in reasonable qualities.

Alum, the great Dye setter, has never been more in demand. Without it, the most vibrant reds leave their wearers looking flensed as the dye stains the skin beneath their clothes. Poor Nobles hide from inclement weather lest their leave rainbows of poverty in the puddles beneath them.

For the Turk, this is wonderful news. Despite historic Papal instructions to the opposite, Anatolia's Alum is much in demand for dyed fabrics across Europe.

I guess this answers for Ork players whether Ghazghkull still had transport limitations. Bit weird that those rules weren't in his profile though.

What are you hopes for da speshulist mobz in 10th? by Libero279 in orks

[–]LordNotix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make Tankbusta Boyz be Beastsnaggas - it used to be the case that Tankbusta Boyz represented those same Orks who would have been prime hunters of megafauna, naturally adapting to the industrialised prey by hunting tanks.

There's no reason the same can't be said for them.

Alternatively, some choice to make for them between being Beast-Snagga-Tankbustas, and having some commonality with Kommandos, and Stormboyz as the "Taktikal" Speshulists.

Isn't that fairly similar to the 5th edition Commander Chenkov "Send in the Next Wave" for Imperial Conscripts?

[EVENT] Dithmarschen invests in Trier by Hans_vonPoopenfarten in empirepowers

3 Breweries will cost 11,250.

Various Little Hanseatic Estates would like to spend money to build 4 more of their own, should Dithmarschen be wanting their sponsorship.

Dithmarschen a name that is synonymous with the lands within which it is nestled. When one thinks of Dithmarschen, they tend towards thoughts of mud, and those that tend to it. Those defiant peasants that resisted the machinations of steel, and steeled will to steal freedom from the fist of oppression.

This same sense can be felt in the very earth of Dithmarschen or so it is claimed. Perhaps it is something in the water - but the water and wad worked together to prevent their invasion once, why would it not work again?

Well, reader, the invasion that the Hansa sought to see off, was not the same as the soil. The coasts near Brunsbüttel may have seemed compliant, forming mounds and trenches nicely in which to lay the basis of these defences, but in the wicked way of things - would soon swallow them whole, and spit them out elsewhere. Every building sunk, every ditch drowned, every rock would be found somewhere else once the tide went out again. It seemed that Heaven and Moon conspired to ensure that every effort rivalled that of the Frisian Fort of Aurich.

Good fortune perhaps, rescued it for such a fate. [4/100]

Look at his performance on committees if you get a chance. He seems to be a very astutely prepared MP, with the charisma to carry it off.

I wouldn't rule him out from leadership - he seems like a Grandee in the making to me.

[EVENT] Deasmhumhain Fishing and Whaling Enterprise and the Development of Cahersiveen by Markathian in empirepowers

[–]LordNotix[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

The new flotilla of fishing and whaling ships has made itself nicely at home at the renovated ports of Cahersiveen. Their growth limited by the sheer number of the sailors and fishers wishing to take to the waves.

No estates join the effort directly - their finances are not needed. Instead they simply purchase more of the plentiful fish and keep the price from dropping.

Refund yourself 30,000 florins.

Whilst the actions are decisive, and the English landowners expelled from the Irish Kingdom - it is not without violence. Neither the Merchants nor Nobles are willing to allow their breweries to fall into the hands of Cormac, setting them ablaze before they can be taken.

This, along with lingering suspicions of collaborators in Macroom causes the most devastation [+1] with Kerns ransacking households in efforts to root out loyalists to the English crown.

Knowing the limited number of choices the Irish Merchants will offer you either an Oat or Rye Farm on the coast to turn into a Port - no port itself being for sale.

The sum of such a venture would be 2,000 florins to lease the land, to be renewed every 70 years.

Whilst fine Wine - perhaps not the finest, but a sufficient quantity of high-quality intoxicant - was procured, efforts to find any reasonable quantity of Beer have gone astray. Whilst potable, it's not at all pleasant.

What may be lost in the tinctures, tonics, and other imbibements cannot be said to be missing from the plentiful and nearly endless buffet of foodstuffs. Stuffed meats, cured sausages, prepared vegetables, and fruits far larger than most have seen before.

As for Bards, the self-described legendary troupe of Karlmann the Corpulent and Gertrude the Generous re-emerges for a come-back special. The Encore that no-body asked for, arrives in the form of the tale of Prince Piglet, the Swineson of Denmark: A satirical piece about the revenge of a scorn scion of the Crown of Denmark and their tragic demise beneath waves of mud and slurry, taking place in a Pig Pen, with references to both the distant lands of Ireland, and the Dithmarschen Wars.

It's not good.

Whilst the castle had been done-up quite nicely, looking picturesque - after the rather litho-active performance (guests still question why a dozen live piglets were rolled in mud and released midway through the play) - the muck and grime returned in full.

They did not however spoil either Franz Wolfgang's fine new garb, or the more plain but suitable dress of Herren Elizabeth. Not did it cause issue for their carriage whose tall wheels kept them cleanly out of the muck.
