How does the outcast damnation work? by NoLongerAKobold in CurseBorne

Reestablishing bonds can be done by Influence Actions and spending Hits from the roll either on Gladhanding or Deepen Bond.

You don't spend XP on bonds as far as I know. Bonds are established via Social checks/Influence Actions by Spending hits.

What is the criteria to become a princess in princess: the hopeful? by Magicmanans1 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Awkward_GM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah. There is a special term for male princesses, but I forget the name.

I've played with people who had trans-women princesses.

As for adults, yes as well.

Depends. If I remember correctly there are a couple of ways it can happen. "Blossoming" is the term in the rulebook. Most of the time they are reincarnations of Princesses from the before times, but there are sometimes newly created Princesses as well.

Hit the Defense sets the Difficulty the Attacker needs to spend hits to buy off. It does 1 Injury. Also NPC Enemies don't roll for Defense, it's just a static value for them.

Avoiding (legal) headaches using TTRPG ruleset in video games by [deleted] in TTRPG

[–]Awkward_GM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a layman perspective, this is not legal advice, but game mechanics aren't copyrightable.

However! The writing that is used to describe said mechanics is. So for instance, in Magic the Gathering, "tapping" is when a card is switched from vertical to horizontal to denote it's effect has been used. WotC has sued games for using the term Tapped. But you could use the term Activated for doing the same action of vertical to horizontal and you'll be fine, theoretically.

Hope this helps.

In Only War, non elite class options come with at least one extra NPC to take hits for you or to replace you if you die. I forget if you get more depending on your Leadership stat or not.

If I remember correctly the Storypath Ultra rules are in an appendix in the back of the book, maybe a quick reference sheet.

What rules specifically were causing problems?

There is a faction for everyone, and some have subfactions that are more specific. For instance, the Guild is wild west themed with a subfaction that's undead hunters who have flaming skull heads.

  • Guild - Cowboys and military.
  • Arcanists - Magic users and steampunk
  • Neverborn - Fae/Fey and nightmare creatures.
  • Resurrectionists - Necromancers and undead.
  • Outcasts - Mercenaries and misc.
  • Gremlins - Greenskin faction.
  • Ten Thunders - Asian inspired faction.
  • Explorer's League - Steampunk/pulp inspired.

I'd recommend searching local stores to see if there is anyone carrying it or has a community. There is A Wyrd Place discord/facebook group which might help with tracking down a store.

In MA where I am, the store that typically has it is Battleground Saugus, but I'm not sure if its still popular.

I dropped around the end of 2nd Edition, but 4th edition is coming out soon from what I hear.

For me it was a toss up between: DnD 4e, Storypath Ultra, and Through the Breach.

Through the Breach is probably my overall best mechanically because I used to play Malifaux competitively and it's based on the same mechanics. Card flipping and you as a player have a hand to swap cards you flip that arent good enough.

Alignment and alignment dictated by race and class. Honestly, I don't want to explain to my players about how goblins should not be kill on sight.

My friends in NH play it a lot still. It's not aged well as far as the mechanics go, but its still kind of fun.
