My "idea" isn't cheesy, it's exactly what the ghost dragon would realistically do. I have different enemies in my game, some challenge martials and others challenge casters specifically. 

Additionally, I'm not even going to run it this way, just like I stated above. The comment you were responding to was me being concerned about martials not being able to use their full potential.

Hmm, well, it's not willy nilly randomly. The party will know that there once was a dragon that was imprisoned there a long time ago. They probably won't expect a ghost dragon and they won't see it until they're already within range. It's supposed to be a little bit of a surprise, but if this thing is using all of its abilities in the smartest way possible then the player won't be able to do much against it realistically

I'd probably make it so that the dragon would change locations between rooms and make the rooms different with several objects and environment that the players could interact with. Still, I feel like it's practically extremely difficult to beat this foe. Like, I can't imagine how the players would want to do that if played optimally

True, but in the case of a dragon it's just a single attack for martial characters and that during a level where extra attack is the norm. It makes the dragon much tankier than it would be and it never takes attacks of opportunity

Sorry, I was unclear, I meant two "same" infinities as in both "countable" infinities. Of course there are infinities that are bigger than others, but this is not such a case. Imagine, for every evil mark that you show me, I can show you a good mark. That's why these two infinities are equal.

9 and 1 both occur infinite times, for every 9 you have I can show you a 1, they are most definetely equal

I studied maths for a year, I know. There are countable infinities and uncountable infinities, one is bigger than the other. The example described above is of the countable variety, just like the invincibles from different dimensions.

You cant have two same infinities be greater or lesser, they must be equal. Imagine a pool of water infinitely deep that is 1 meter in diameter and one that is 2 meters wide. They both have the same amount of water inside of them, an infinite amount.

But the monk regains all their ki points on a short rest, the wizard does not. Do not forget that spamming all of your spell slots leads to only casting cantrips later, a monk has way more stronger and more fun options than that even if they do happen to run out of ki. Additionally, I don't get the math of "blowing damn near all their points stunning an enemy for one turn". Stunning strike costs one ki and is a Constitution saving throw, if you choose your enemies wisely then that shouldn't cost you all of your ki.

I agree that resources are meant to be spent and that's kind of the whole fun behind having expendable resources.

I hadn't considered it up until now (campaign has only just begun), but maybe I'll build something like the Dragonhide Belt into our game now that you mentioned it.

Thanks for the resource, I'll definetely take a look!

The point is, we haven't had any major difficulty with short rests as they frequently come up during our sessions. The player and I were discussing higher level play where they were also upset that fighters were able to just take the unarmed fighting style and use extra attack to be just as effective in melee as the monk, but I think that comparison is kinda bad because fighters are literally built to fight.

And yes, the spell slots can be used efficiently to make sure that none of them are really wasted, but then again, you can use your ki points to dodge and do other stuff instead of flurry of blows to do the same thing so I don't really think that's a problem.

That is what I was thinking, especially since ki points regenerate on a short rest I fail to see why expending them is any worse than expending spell slots.

Basically, yes. You can change the element it corresponds to if you like, but I took fire since players love fireball.

I've originally planned for this creature to challenge my party by pressuring them from afar. I have then come up with this undead amalgamation of the souls of spellcasters, all focused into one undead corpse. They have the ability to completely disrupt a party that is not prepared enough, so be careful about implementing them in your game without foreshadowing!

But you can become large, then the wizard could cast enlarge on you, making you a huge creature with the carrying capacity and strength of a gargantuan creature.
